What is the obsession with Michelle Obama?

Even when I was a liberal, I never understood the complete fawning over Michelle Obama. From the perspective of a liberal, yes, she seems like a nice person. She seems somewhat authentic. She's relatively articulate as a Havard lawyer likely would be. She's not a stupid woman.

I kept hearing her name for the Presidency and then I kept hearing her name for Vice President...and I'm like why? Based on what? She's likable and black?

I can't help but to feel that leftist identity politics is coming into play. They barely know any intelligent political black women and so they yell out Michelle Obama and make a huge reach for names like Oprah lol They are just checking a racial box that makes them feel good inside for white knighting manufactured racial inclusion.

I find it offensive to lower the standards for black faces and take us out of the running of Meritocracy. I'm sure there are other black women that are liberal that have earned their way into consideration. Some might say "Well look at Trump, he wasn't in government and didn't earn his way", which technically is correct however the difference is that Trump put himself out there to run for the presidency despite not getting any support from the Republican establishment. Donald Trump's campaign wasn't a product of some Washington Think-tank or Republican wet-dream.

Michelle Obama had one speech at the DNC and somehow she's leadership material. All it proved was that she could read off a teleprompter and newsflash, lots of people can do the same. The liberal boners over Michelle Obama encapsulates why the left will keep picking shitty candidates because character and policies don't matter to them. They are emotional whores, always wanting to feel good rather than have any substance.

Think back on the “compliment“ given BHO by Joe Biden, "I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy," if ever I heard a racist comment that was it. It also clearly articulates the tokenism that elevates Michelle.
Now we have Biden promising to select a black woman as his VP, not because she is the best candidate, but because it is “her turn.”

It sure is condescending. It's another reason why I left the Democrat party.

You are so right.this is a media stunt to garner the votes of the black populace. Its nice that we can speak with you about this because we have an opportunity to communicate in the realm of reason rather than a propaganda push. Diversity is great when all candidates are qualified similarly. To vote for som purely based on colour of skin is simply reverse racism and not even a qualifier for the job.

As always, Adam, you put out a great piece. I agree completely except I'm not convinced she's a nice person.

Well to clarify, from the perspective of a liberal, she seems nice.

Quality doesn’t matter. Choose the popular token (slam on the Dem party not the candidates) and excite the group mentality. With enough sheep you will win one for the cause.

I agree

Identity politics is the exact opposite of meritocracy. Trump WORKED for his success. From all information available, Michelle never did. Is there anyone that thinks Michelle would be considered for VP had she NOT married Barack? And what difference, if any, is there between her and Hillary before she was handed the job of Senator?

That is a good point. Hillary was pure name recognition and it always felt like a plan to find her back into the white house. They bought a house in an area in NY that she knew she could win the senate seat and waited long enough to jump in the presidential race.

You nailed it, emotions come into play when they are seeking out candidates. The woke craze itself is fueled by emotions.

At least I'm not alone in my thought process. I thought it was just me for the longest.

The entire Democrat / Communist narrative is one long emotional lie.
Guns- the children!
School lunches - the children!
income Inequality - the children!
Education - the children!
Vaccines - the children!
Racism - the children!
violent crime - the children!
Trump - the children!
Abortion - womens body autonomy! fuck the children...

Seriously - point to a single plank in the Dem/Commie platform that isn't an emotional outcry. Injustice, the wealthy, republicans, Civil Rights...literally their entire narrative has been carefully designed to steer away from Objective and factually historical analyses and to stir emotional response in a mob whose first impulse in their lives is to operate on and to act on their "feelings".

We could put up all the charts, show all the statistical historical FACTS, show photographs, bring in witnesses who somehow managed to escape Communist dictatorships and really with very little emotion - in an unemotional and almost a monotone voice every one of those people will speak of the brutality, the injustice, the oppression and suppression of life as a subject/citizen of a communist/socialist regime.
