The sheriffs in Washington and Oregon are in complete dereliction of duty.

Indefenceostupid, without showing evidence of dereliction I would say if the States Governors tell them to stand down, unless being physically attacked or observing an assault and battery, they are doing as ordered by their superiors. I do know a majority of Sheriffs and Deputies get upset when told to stand down. Please clarify your post.

The sheriff takes an oath. A governor's orders doesn't supercede that oath.

@Indefenceostupid, granted, a Sheriff is voted into office and works for the District. A Mayor has no authority over, but does handle the budget, as manipulate, and the Governor has and can remove a Sheriff from office. It is a court fight, but when a governor says stand down, it may be easier to stand down. Some areas the Sheriff working with LEOS is compatible, some not. Cities with large PD have no need for Sheriff assistance.
