Never let a reason to remove more liberties from the people adding to your own power in the process go by.

Talk about a double-edged sword. On one hand the investigation could be a good thing by revealing the truth that the riot was perpetrated not by thousands of Trump supporters, but by relatively small number of extremists. On the other hand, the investigation could devolve into more serial lying by Democrats, a la Russia-gate.

Isn't this the very swamp Trump attempted, but needed more time to expose and banish?

I can save the government a whole lot of money. If 70ish million people wanted to storm the capital they could do more damage than tip some chairs and take pictures.
