Immoral or not?

Would it be immoral or should it be illegal for a company to manufacture sex dolls for individuals that have taboo sexual desires I.e. dogs etc...?

I'm not a psychologist, so I'm not going to answer, rather I'm going to ask more questions.
Not so concerned with the manufacturing and sale, but the usage of said products, and in particular what is meant by "etc..."
First, that etc.. can go south pretty quickly. Nevermind dogs, what about celebrities that you'd like to have sex with? Can I just go buy a Lady Gaga doll? I wonder how she'd feel about that, legally and personally. What about just regular people you might be obsessed with (i.e. can I take photos/video of a work acquaintance and have them grafted onto a doll; futuristic yes, but not far off..)? You want taboo? What about... children and infants? Go fuck all the fake dogs you want. I'm more worried about the inevitable progression that leads to real people, especially the little ones.
Second, and I truly don't know, but would it (having sex with a doll) help or hinder the cognitive control mechanisms one has? i.e. if I fuck the Stacy doll, will that keep me from stalking Stacy at work, or will it make me want her more? Would using a child doll be considered a viable 'release' for a pedophile, or would it embolden them to go find the real thing? How exactly does a relationship with a doll 'progress'? Conversely, could they be used therapeutically, say to help treat serial rapists? Will we buy dolls for sexual predators and set them free, the way we now simply medicate those who would decapitate others and send them into the community (yes, this happened in Canada)?
I really don't know. I would guess - but only guess - that pornography has probably helped at least some people refrain from seeking extra-marital sex, being enough to quell their private desires; but I could also see how someone would get bored with it and want to move on to something more 'real', if that really is their 'thing'. I know, marital infidelity is fairly innocuous compared to the crimes of stalking, rape or child molestation, so I hope I don't appear glib in my comparison, I'm just thinking out loud.
I'm not so worried about the private rights aspect (the Libertarians can jack it off all they want!). To quote a certain former Liberal Canadian PM who will remain unnamed, "There's no place for the state in the bedrooms of the nation." I'd sincerely rather not spend my time trying to tell other people what to do. Do what you want, yes, but only if it's good for you. Questions about morality or legality sound pedantic, like looking for someone to blame or to regulate. I'm more concerned with the more primary question about how healthy a psychological practice it really is, for the individual, in the first place.
Can of worms. Well done with the controversial topic!

I would say it depends, do human beings have any control over what they find sexually attractive?

Who cares if it's a choice. If I choose to do something privately in my own home that I have paid for a product or service to do so and it's all voluntary who is to stop me

The question conflates morality and legality, but the answers do not. An activity can reasonably be both legal and immoral, or moral/amoral yet illegal. Clarification, please.

Fair enough so I updated the options on the poll so as to allow someone to say immoral yet legal and vice versa

@Rus-T-Balls Much appreciated, thank you.

I had noticed it before but no one has said anything so I didn't change it next time I'll change it first off thank you for your input

I don't really care myself. As long as it isn't hurting another person in any way I don't care what people do. It's not for me to decide what anyone does and what I consider moral and right is subjective so I don't expect others to live by that, just folks I allow in to my inner circle are held to a morality standard for me. The only line I draw is when someone starts to effect another person's well being physically and in some cases their mental well being. The mental well being part would only apply if someone specifically told me how it was effecting them and then I could decide whether intervention is needed or not.

Interesting question..... put it into perspective, the act of having sex with an animal is a criminal offence in Canada, and considering that the USA and Canada have formed their laws on the same sources, I would suggest that Americans are under the same laws. Having said that, libertarians would say that the government have no place in controlling what is sold and made along those lines, conservatives would have a debate, social conservatives would say "no way!" and many, not all, liberals would probably be on Amazon ordering the toys.

Would it be similar to a punching dummy that look like a human? Hitting a person on the street is totally against the law, but an inanimate object that you purchase from the open market should be a different story, no?

@Rus-T-Balls no it’s not similar.

How, why?

@Rus-T-Balls a punch and sexual penetration are two different acts. A human and an animal are also not the same. Ask yourself the question. Would you demonstrate these two ‘products’ in public? If not which one would you be willing to demonstrate?

@BrianK that refers to my morals which is not what is in question here it's whether someone has the right to do it privately in their own home

@Rus-T-Balls actually the original post does not ask about the act, it talks about manufacturing and selling the animal sex doll. Your original post asked for an opinion, to which you received it. As for this discussion, I think I was able to demonstrate that even you make the distinction between a punching bag/doll and an animal sex doll.
