‘Targeted’ by police : Qld Senate candidate arrested while protesting against CCP
Queensland Senate candidate Drew Pavlou, who was arrested while protesting in Sydney against the Chinese government, says he was “targeted” by police.
Mr Pavlou, in Eastwood on Saturday, held a sign saying, ‘Free Tibet’, ‘Free Uyghurs’, ‘Free Hong Kong’ and ‘Down with CCP’.
“Basically it’s as simple as this: I’m an Australian citizen running for election, I held up a sign criticising Xi Jinping and the Chinese Communist Party in the middle of Sydney,” Mr Pavlou told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.
“Last week I was assaulted and bashed, this week we were arrested.
“I wasn’t even the most vocal but for some reason police targeted me.”
