Jim Chalmers AU's federal treasurer has claimed in Parliament he "misheard" a question from a journalist at the National Press Club about whether Australians should still expect a $275 energy bill cut. Prior to the May federal election, the Labor party mentioned it no less than 97 times. They also promised that " Only Labor can address the cost of living pressure placed on Australian families." Chalmers delivered his first budget a couple of days ago, admitting that electricity and gas prices will increase by 50 %* in 2023.
