Not that significant. The International Law of the Sea will probably be the blueprint for such claims, and the costs will be prohibitive to claim much more than a few landing areas. I say let them spend their money, and eventually what they learn will filter over to us and we can do the same at far lower cost. And it may well break China, just as attempting to defeat American "Star Wars" broke the Soviet Union.

Star Wars was disinformation. Anyone working on Star Wars missile defense knew it didn’t work then. But the Soviets were sure it did work, and overextended their economy in their desperation to try to defeat it.
