We used to see this a lot with the Soviet Union. And it happened a lot in Tsarist Russian (reporters trying to photograph the train carrying Tolstoy's casket in 1910 were arrested by local police) . Putin is reverting to form.
The US arrested a Russian who entered the US under a false identity. Maybe Evan Gershkovich was snatched as a trade for Sergey Vladimirovich Cherkasov?
