How are you doing under Covid lockdown?

After five months of Covid-19 lockdowns, most people have greatly been affected both economically and mentally. How are you handling it? Have things changed where you live? What are your plans as it continues?

A Covid-19 vaccine will...

Either way there will be strings attached, let's start with the sickest, elderly, and anyone over 55...that should Illiminate ALL the registered gun owners. Leaving millennials and those a bit confused on where they stand on the gene pool chart.

well Im being evicted in early october so will get to test the rental market.

Sorry to hear that. Best of luck finding great new accommodations!!

Sorry to hear that

That sounds like reluctant classism to me.

Home rentals are not that bad.

You just need to be more vigilant at dealing with pests . Buying earplugs will help you deal with your inconsiderate trigger-happy neighbors who will be skidding and honking all night. The most harmless ones are the elderly Chinese identity thieves who will steal your garbage .

@GeeMac

Yes, while it is hard to be sympathetic to people who voted Democrats into office hopefully most did not expect the idiocy that has caused our economic problems. South Korea keep their economy going while also controlling the pandemic. The difference can be summed up as gross incompetence and incredible indifference towards working people. The political class in general is unbelievably immoral. The John McCains, Romneys and Hillary Clintons being exhibit A.

I'm getting really close to defecating on Gavin Newsom's welcome matt every day until they end this idiocy. I know enough people who agree that he'd need a snow plow to get out his door in the morning.

I don't think they'll allow it to end until the entire population just ignores them and goes about their lives as normal. That's the whole reason they keep rambling about "the new normal".

I'm typically very pro-vax, but this #COVID19 vax seems like a ridiculous waste of time. It's remarkably easy to do a fairly reliable risk assessment for COVID19 complications. All this nonsense about closing schools, making kids wear masks all day, if beyond insane. Your kid has a better chance of being killed by high school football than COVID19. The media makes it out like everyone's at equal risk and it's not that way at all. Unfortunately, this has had the opposite impact, such that people know someone who tested positive and was fine, so they think they'll be fine. That's not how it works! Know your risk level.

I haven't locked down, still go to work where mask are not required, deal with the public (and they come from everywhere) everyday!!!
I am in what is called the HIGH risk group, I'll take my chances!!!
My better half has a Masters Degree in health care, and many years of experience!!! Her comment several months ago was, "It's the F---ing flu, get over it, it's will be with us from now on"!!!!!!

They are flying helicopters during the night where I live, monitoring for gatherings. Talk about fascism!

you in US?

@DesireNoDesires yes.

@AdLibertatem are they flying helicopters to monitor for gatherings, or have there been rioters in the area that theyre surveying?

@AdLibertatem Go outside and flip them off.

@ZuzecaSape Way ahead of you. XD

@ZuzecaSape, @DesireNoDesires No riots, this is clearly surveillance of gatherings. They are only flying through neighborhoods.

@AdLibertatem theyre not too bright then...why not use drones for surveillance..unless its more of an intimidation tactic than for actual surveillance

walked into a store with a dirty toilet flange from a motor home to make sure the new one is the same, placed it on the counter when I paid for the new one, and you are worried about a cold virus.

From a link below:

The report in question has the bland title, “Scenarios for the Future of Technology and International Development.” It was published in May 2010 in cooperation with the Global Business Network of futurologist Peter Schwartz. The report contains various futurist scenarios developed by Schwartz and company.

One scenario carries the intriguing title, “LOCK STEP: A world of tighter top-down government control and more authoritarian leadership, with limited innovation and growing citizen pushback.” Here it gets interesting as in what some term predictive programming.

The Schwartz scenario states,

“In 2012, the pandemic that the world had been anticipating for years finally hit. Unlike 2009’s H1N1, this new influenza strain — originating from wild geese — was extremely virulent and deadly. Even the most pandemic-prepared nations were quickly overwhelmed when the virus streaked around the world, infecting nearly 20 percent of the global population and killing 8 million in just seven months…”

He continues,

“The pandemic also had a deadly effect on economies: international mobility of both people and goods screeched to a halt, debilitating industries like tourism and breaking global supply chains. Even locally, normally bustling shops and office buildings sat empty for months, devoid of both employees and customers.” This sounds eerily familiar.

Then the scenario gets very interesting:

“During the pandemic, national leaders around the world flexed their authority and imposed airtight rules and restrictions, from the mandatory wearing of face masks to body-temperature checks at the entries to communal spaces like train stations and supermarkets. Even after the pandemic faded, this more authoritarian control and oversight of citizens and their activities stuck and even intensified. In order to protect themselves from the spread of increasingly global problems — from pandemics and transnational terrorism to environmental crises and rising poverty — leaders around the world took a firmer grip on power.”

I'm doing alright as an introvert but I do miss going out to eat and drink every now and then. I am supportive of vaccinations but I am skeptical of a vaccine coming out so quickly so I am sitting this one out for a while longer. Fortunately, I live quite far from my parents and work from home so my exposures are limited to grocery shopping and the Starbucks drive-thru.

Economically I’m better off because I don’t go anywhere to spend money. I don’t interact with people except virtually. Hasn’t been a problem mentally or emotionally. I have plenty to keep me busy. I’ll keep on keeping on as long as necessary, and get the vaccine when I’m confident it’s safe, but I won’t be the first in line. I think we’d be lucky to see one by 22. Otherwise I can’t tell much has changed around me. People seem to be going about their business as usual.

who knows, but sooner would be better than later.

Sorry, but IMHO you asked a completely wrong question, I agree with [slug.com] s answer in this thread.
