Should pedophiles be allowed to have "child" sex robots?
What about access "virtual/computer-generated child pornography" or text stories containing pedophilia? It's natural to assume that this could put more kids at risk if the potential pedophile becomes motivated to act out on his fantasies. But what if it leads to less sexual exploitation of children? However, this topic hasn't been formally researched due primarily to stigma related to promotion of anything other than punitive or prohibition measures. What do you think?

My take is on the issue of personal freedom versus government control over what people do that doesn't harm anyone. As SCOTUS has held depictions of REAL children is illegal because a REAL child is being exploited, but drawings and literary fiction are not illegal because no actual child has been exploited or harmed. This appears to be a case for the latter.
As for the concept that violence in games leads to violent real life behavior because "violence has increased over the past couple decades;" I have observed that violence has increased since the late sixties, and is due to things quite apart from games and fiction.

@ZuzecaSape It depends on the DA and the judge. These are but a handful of cases, and are among the few exceptions decided in contrast to the 2002 SCOTUS decision on the matter.
By "allowing" this type of behaviour, it legitimizes the crime and the people doing it by the seeming acceptance of the behaviour. Why do we have to accommodate this? The answer is we don't. It should be illegal. Period. While many make the argument it is a healthy fantasy, or that allowing the fantasy to be lived out as such can prevent the actual act, that argument is circular, and therefore invalid.
There are enough other cues out there that while questionable, are not illegal. I say it should be difficult for pedophiles to engage in the activities they choose, and keep them that way. We can't stop childrens cartoons, but we can stop the "kid drag shows" and all that other stuff that feeds these individuals desires. Kid sex dolls? Totally against it. Besides, to be quite honest, there is quite enough out there to give these individuals their fix, they have rings and forums and the internet, why make it easier on them?

A difference between a "kid drag show" and a "kid sex robot" is only one has a real kid. There are many gray areas in this topic.

@eschatologyguy I'm in 100% agreement.
Another big difference is one is a sexual act, whether real or not, mimicking a deplorable action. The other is campy fun, with nothing sexual about it. It's mostly another attempt to try and link homosexuality, transgenderism, and drag with pedophilia, when there is none.
@JacksonNought Respectfully I disagree. I understand there are indeed some that are just "campy fun", but those are not the ones I'm referencing.
There are shows out now that have young boys, doing drag shows, in front of men in a club. This is specifically the one that I was talking about, but there are many many more out there.

@Czaidan I watched the video. I saw nothing sexual about it, just a boy dressing in drag. Just because the audience may be gay does not make it any more pedophilic than if it was a girl in front of men, or a boy in front of women. The sexual nature is entirely up to the perception of the audience. We could be equally critical of potential pedophiles at child / teen beauty pageants (the kind seen in Toddlers & Tiaras), child swim competitions, cheerleading, wrestling, etc.
@JacksonNought I didn't say gay. I said pedo. Gay was the obvious go to because drag shows draw a tremendous gay audience. Pedophiles hide in plain sight many times, so this is good place for that to happen. If you don't see any problem with that video, then we're at an impasse, because I do find many things wrong with it. We don't have to agree, especially on such a sensitive subject for many people. My intent was/is to defend my position, not to change your mind.
I have to say, as a pedophile myself, I condemn the children's drag show idea. If a kid wants to go in their room and dress up in clothes that are the opposite of their sex, that's fine. But that should not be exploited for profit. He will definitely end up traumatized, especially from the things I've vaguely heard...
Dolls don't really encourage the urge to act, from the people I've talked to. They like and love the doll as if it were a kid they could actually love. Shockingly, a lot of us seem to be very protective of children. The dolls are a fantasy that can be acted on safely, while providing relief that's real enough to the pedophile.
I, myself, am a heavily romantic person, including towards kids! However, I also understand that a romantic relationship would hurt a child, since they don't have the brain capacity to understand the consequences and ramifications of the actions. So a doll would be nice enough for me, especially since I prefer quiet, meek girls in Lolita dresses.
I can tell the doll I love them, hold them, touch them, sleep with them, and they'll never be traumatized. Whereas, if I told a real kid that I want to be their romantic partner, it would traumatize them.
Once you've driven the simulator over and over, your desire for the real thing will only intensify.

Not really, actually! Many who have legally owned one are quite happy with the dolls and don't wish to deal with real children.

@MDonaldson In some countries, they are legal to own. I've actually asked about this on a forum I'm on, specifically for people like me. Pedophiles who don't wish to harm children. Shockingly, there's a lot more than one would think!
I love how people pose 'I think' as if it's some kind of intellectual standard.

I've not yet been able to find any related to sex dolls or virtual reality. I'm considering funding a study next year related to this.
@Admin Not 100% sure, but Swinburne University in Melbourne Australia have an extensive study around deviant behavior. In part it looks at physical influences on behaviour. To what extent I do not know. I will ask my wife as she is studying that very subject there.
I view pedophiles kind of like serial killers. They usually fantasize about offending and develop the impulses and urges to act out their fantasy in reality. I feel like this might only prevent predators until the urge to act out gets even worse, and the next step is a real child. It might even act as the “gateway drug” for offending. It’s probably better for pedophiles to stay busy with things that don’t involve fantasizing about hurting children as much as possible.

I think the poll is based on a false premise: that a doll made to look like a child could "be enough" to a pedophile to prevent them from victimizing children. Yet, what's to stop a pedophile from ordering a doll that is as short as they make them, flat-chested, pigtails, etc etc? At the end of the day, it's a hunk of silicon and plastic.

Interesting topic. I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest it would cause less harm, based on the fact that the proliferation of pornography has been associated with societal reductions in sex crime.
Now, what if we could grow otherwise physically human creatures with just enough brain to stay alive, but not enough to be conscious? Could someone have sex with that?
