A “global fake news campaign” has been launched around Hungary’s recent anti-paedophile law to “mislead the general public”, Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said in Luxembourg. On Wednesday, the day of the European Championship game Germany against Hungary in Munich, there was enthusiasm for the LGBTQ movement and outrage about a law in Hungary protecting children.

The international hate campaign launched against Hungary for the recently adopted anti-paedophile law is a fact-free endeavour, said Szijjarto. The procedure launched against Hungary under Article 7 of the EU Treaty is rather meant to be applied as a means of political blackmail, the foreign minister said in a meeting of his European Union counterparts. This was evident in the German attitude towards the Hungarian soccer team too.

The Carpathian Brigade, one of the largest Hungarian soccer fan groups, had announced on their Facebook page that they expected provocations in Munich on Wednesday.

In Germany, Stephanie Stauss from public broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk had declared that the rainbow colours must be seen not only in Munich but in Frankfurt, Berlin and Augsburg. “Turn on the lights everywhere!” she demanded. Mainstream media such as Süddeutsche Zeitung and Welt printed their cover pages in the same LGBTQ rainbow optics after the decision of the European Football Union Uefa not to light up the Munich Allianz Arena in gay colours for the match to put political pressure on Hungary.

Szijjarto told Hungarian reporters that critics of the contested law have “formed their opinion based on that campaign”. The law does not discriminate against any social group, it is “about just one thing: protecting Hungarian children”, he insisted.

Meanwhile, the Hungarian foreign ministry has said that a recent statement by the British Embassy in Budapest “shows a complete lack of information” and was written based on “malevolent misinterpretation and false news”. Hungary’s recent paedophile legislation is “aimed at protecting children” and to ensure “parents’ exclusive right to provide education to their children concerning sexual orientation”, the statement said.

The law is not aimed against any community and “does not concern the sexual orientation of adults” the ministry insisted. But critics launched a hysterical campaign against Hungary’s homosexual policy.

In response to Munich Allianz Arena’s decision, other sports facilities turned on the rainbow lights on Wednesday – even if no game was played there. The spokesman for the board of Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt, Axel Hellmann, announced: “Deutsche Bank Park will switch on the rainbow for the game against Hungary. The Waldstadion remains colorful!” According to the regional public broadcaster WDR, the operators of the Cologne stadium were planning the same.

So-called “centrist” politicians, journalists, entrepreneurs opportunistically went on their knees and became useful idiots of a leftist agenda, especially by EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder.

When the World Cup takes place in Islamic Qatar next year, where homosexuality is forbidden and punished with prison, will the brave EU chief and Bavarian Prime Minister ensure that FC Bayern Munich no longer hold its winter training camps in Qatar until the discrimination against homosexuals is ended there?

Hungary was the country which revolted not only in the 1956 uprising against the huge Soviet Union, but also brought down the iron curtain of the Warsaw Pact, torn down in 1989 to pave the way for the fall of the Berlin Wall and reunification. On June 27, 1989, the reform-minded Hungarian Foreign Minister Gyula Horn and the Austrian Foreign Minister Alois Mock cut through the signal fence of the Hungarian barriers to Austria.

The German mainstream have a disgracefully short memory, it seems.
