The 69 Weeks - Chuck MIssler
This is one of the most jaw-dropping hard evidence of prophetic accuracy in the Old Testament. In Daniel 9:25, the angel Gabriel shows up to Daniel while the latter was in prayer and fasting at Israel's Babylonian exile and reveals to him in a prophetic puzzle that from the time the decree is given that the Israelites could already go home to rebuild Jerusalem, to the time of the coming of the Messiah would be 69 weeks.
As it turned out, that from the time king Ataxerxes decreed on March 14, 445BC, there would be 69 "weeks of years" or a day to represent each year that would pass. Sixty-nine weeks would equal 483 days, which was code for 483 Jewish lunar years (which has only 360 days in a year). 483 "years" multiplied by 360 "days" is 173,880 actual days as the gap between the two events, which counted from March 14, 445BC and terminated in April 6, 32AD.
And what happened on April 6, 32AD? It is the day Zachariah 9:9 is fulfilled! Jesus rides into Jerusalem riding a foal of a donkey in what is known as the Triumphal Entry, bringing salvation! Not a day sooner and not a day later.
Sadly, the 1st century rabbis failed to figure out Daniel 9:25. They could have just waited by the city gates on that day to see who would drop by. But they didn't, hence the Lord's Luke 19:41-44 prophecy of the destruction of Jerusalem 38 years later "because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation," resulting in their rejecting Him.
