The three reasons why I do not subscribe to the interpretation that Russia is Magog:
- Magog, according to the earliest bible dictionaries (e.g. Unger's, etc.), was located on the Russian steps, not in Russia itself. And what do you find on the Russian steps? Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, and a host of other ethnically TURKIC PEOPLES.
- All the names of places mentioned in Ezek 38 and 39 that are supposed to be found in Russia are found in TURKEY.
- Russia is not motivated to change times and laws (Dan 7:25), but Turkey is. Nor does Russia worship a god of war (Dan 11:38), but Turkey does!
And here's a bonus!
"And there are seven kings: five are fallen (Assyrian, Egyptian, Babylonian, Medo-Persian and Grecian), and one IS (Rome, the empire in existence as of John's writing), and the other is not yet come (the next empire that plucked the Eastern leg of the Roman empire - the Byzantine empire - was the Ottoman empire); and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of (or a revival of, the same as of) the seven, and goeth into perdition.

We're going to see a revival of the Ottoman empire, folks. And the proof is, they're already working hard at it!
