A little aside: The traditional Western view of who Gog is and where Magog is located geographically bleeds into Stackelbek's interpretation of Ezek 38 and 39. Please consider several passages where the "Russia is Magog" paradigm doesn't fit:

The antichrist will be an Assyrian (Micah 5:5), not a Slav (Russians are ethnically Slavs).

Russia does not seek to change times and laws (Dan 7:25). Only Islam fits this prophetic requirement to a T.

Russia is not in enmity with women (Gen 3:15, Dan 11:37). In Islam, they are treated almost like cattle - disposable and without rights.

Meshech and Tubal, the places where Gog is the chief Prince of (Ezek 38:2-3, 39:1), are both located inside present-day Turkey.

The Hebrew word צפן צפון (Tsaphon) which was translated to "North" in our English bibles, is in reference to Mount Tsafon on the Syrian-Turkish border, which is associated with the pagan storm god Baal Hamon.

Russia would not fit as a "known world" bible times empire that fell and to be revived in the latter days as detailed in Rev 17:10-11. The Ottoman Caliphate is the only empire that fits the bill.

Russia does not worship a god of war (Dan 11:38). Islam does. In fact, jihad is war to honor allah.
