Christianity And Religion Are Becoming More Popular Among Former Liberals | Tim Pool (22:39)

Something is scaring them. It's likely that they feel something in their bones in this crazy time we're in. Before the lockdowns our church was averaging 2 baptisms a month. Now it's 7 to 10 per week. I think that is the purpose of the coming great tribulation (also called Jacob's - or Israel's - trouble). It will put the Jews in such a dire, helpless strait that they will have nowhere to look but up. Hosea 5:15 says: "I will go and return to My place until they acknowledge their offense, and seek My face. In their affliction they will seek Me earnestly." That is their role, to call on Him. He does not return until they call on Him. And call on Him they will.

By the way, the offense in the verse is not plural. It is singular. Any guess on what offense that might be?

I think He will not come until all have heard of Jesus, and chosen - one way or another. Things are bad now but not nearly as bad as they will get at that time. Even the faithful will waver then.

An understanding of the sacrifice of Christ, and the absolutely unique resurrection to seal taking the punishment for our sins forever, good. "Religion," not good; same as not choosing Jesus.

The Amillennialist view is something like that, where the church would need to evangelize until the world is made ready for Jesus's return. Adamantius Origen, and then later, Augustin (both of Alexandria), taught Amillennialism. Origen started a trend called "spiritualization" where they allegorized passages into their supposed "spiritual" meaning. I suspect he resorted to this because Israel by that time had no longer existed as a nation, and the end time prophecies didn't seem to make sense anymore.

The EARLIER church fathers of the first and second centuries, like Polycarp and Irenaeus (both from Antioch) however, taught pre-Millennialism and the return of Christ after the 7 year tribulation, which is what we actually read in the bible (e.g. Matt 24:29-30). For the latter church fathers in Alexandria, these passages were simply allegorized.

Tim Pool, the vlogger above, is not a professing Christian, so I don't fault him for conflating religion with Christianity. But I find his general observation noteworthy.

By calling it "social" distancing and not physical distancing, they seem to have wanted to plant the idea that socializing is a bad thing. Like they wanted everyone a hermit.
