If it is radical to oppose abortion and gay marriage then they need to look at the Black Community as well as Catholics.
I have to believe that a lot of the people who see traditional values as radical must have had really miserable childhoods. Granted if you were gay or pro abortion when I was a kid you were going to be faced with a lot of negative social experiences. I don't think that accounts for all the hostility however. There is a narcissistic and nihilistic element to todays progressives. I don't think it is a matter of emotional neglect but rather indulgence by their parents. The trust fund kids that slip over the edge and join AntiFA probably the exception. It's the parents that wanted love but didn't demand respect I feel shaped the people that hate tradition. Remember it's the baby boom generation that most of these people had as parents and it was a generation that had already rejected their culture's traditions. They too were probably over indulged as children. The West had lost faith in it's self after two world wars. It wanted to forget history more than learn from it.
Respect and gratitude are essential to happiness. There are many things in Western history we should be grateful for but I suspect that many people would struggle to name them. It's human nature to see the bad and ignore the good. To do so however leads to bitterness, nihilism and narcissism.
