The following view is not commonly taught in churches nor even pastors who teach end time prophecy. This view is one of many that constitute a bigger alternative picture. Do not take my word for it. Be Bereans and check the scriptures for yourselves.

I've always wondered who is being referred to as "strangers, the terrible of the nations who God will raise (Micah 5:5, referred here as "seven shepherd's" ) to fight the antichrist.

Ezekiel 28:7-9
"Behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness. They shall bring thee down to the pit, and thou shalt die the deaths of them that are slain in the midst of the seas. Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou shalt be a man, and no God, in the hand of him that slayeth thee."

Isaiah :
"They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee (the antichrist, after he is captured), and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms?"

Who is "terrible of the nations" (military mights) being referred to here?

Daniel :39 (NIV)
"He will attack the mightiest fortresses with the help of a foreign god and will greatly honor those who acknowledge him. He will make them rulers over many people and will distribute the land at a price."

This proves that the antichrist and his allies and hordes will not be the gorilla in the room. There will be even bigger gorillas initially PETRIFIED by (to my mind) political correctness. And then they snap and go ballistic.

Who is "terrible of the nations" (military mights) being referred to here? I'd put the USA on the top of that list. Russia? India? China? France? The UK? Who knows! The only requisite is that these seven "shepherds" (Micah 5:5) are military mights. Look at Russia's alliance with Ottoman Turkey today, it is gradually falling apart.

After these "terrible of the nations" finish with their task, the second horseman of the apocalypse saunters in "to take peace away from the earth, that they should kill one another". That's when a bigger nuclear hell breaks loose, one whose days need to be shortened or no flesh should be saved.

But what about the traditional view of Armageddon, you may ask? There are actually two wars to expect, the pre-Millennial war (where satan will be bound) and the post-Millennial war (after satan and his demon hordes will be released). Not making a destinction between the two is the cause of the mix-up.

Respectfully sir, there have been countless similar interpretations throughout the ages since the New Covenant began.

Most scholars with whom I have had the privilege of conversing briefly, have told me that the “end times” refer to the darkness before the Crucifixion.

And Scripture tells us clearly that we are not to know the time of the 2nd coming.

We are to keep ourselves ready, as if it might be in the next minute, so we must ask ourselves “will I be acquitted RIGHT NOW by Christ before God?”

This interpretation Ignores the procession of prophecies about the last days in both the Old and New Testaments. Daniel tells us the Messiah returns. Hosea says the same thing. So do the other prophets. Allegorizing or "spiritualizing" these prophecies and even the message of the Lord's prayer about praying for God's Kingdom to come is a holdover view from the writings of Gnostic-turned-Catholic-bishop Augustine, carried into the Reformation by both Luther and Calvin. I'm afraid that just as reading the Tanakh through the lens of Talmud is causing problems for the Jews with their understanding of scripture, Augustine's writings are doing the same thing for Christians. What I'm proposing is the studying of the Bible without using the lens of Augustine's writings so we can see what the bible is really telling us.

@eschatologyguy, Luke 21:8: Jesus replied: “Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not follow them. 9 When you hear of wars and uprisings, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away.”

@TimTuolomne which is entirely accurate. The end of the age is followed by the stone not cut by hands becoming a great mountain and filling the whole earth (Dan 2:35).

My impression is that probably the "strangers" are foreign occupying forces in story of ancient Isreal. Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Alexander The Great, Greeks, Romans. That's seven right?

Ancient Israel: A Brief History
[livescience.com]

Seen as forces commanded by the Satan or some supernatural force. Expecting God to defend Isrealites. His people. When that does not happen, some begin to doubt the original promise made by God and speak of new revelation, the so called apocaplitic prophets start to preach of coming of messiah who will displace forces of evil, these "strangers" and new reality will emerge, kingdom of God, where people will be judged. The most famous of these apocaplitic prophets today, is Jesus.

His followers established new religion that included non Jews, Gentiles and today that is Christianity. Today just as they did back in Jesus time some believe the end of days is soon upon us, and Jesus will return to cast last Judgment.

For Jewish prophets strangers might have been occupying forces of their time, and today for Christians who are expecting Kingdom of God will use whatever they sees as threat today, and call them "strangers" , forces controlled by evil. Satan etc.

Babylonians of than is USA for you today.

I am leaning more towards the literalist side. Eisegesis always causes us to err.
