Why use the Legal Sword? Didn't Christ suggest turning the other cheek?

The Republic (Everyone: The Public) is served well when people are more reluctant to turn to crime. The Legal Sword is that power to deter crime before people choose crime.

Is it just me, or do other people know this to be true?

"It is not merely the number of impeachments, that are to be expected to make public officers honest and attentive in their business. A general opinion must pervade the community, that the house, the body to impeach them for misconduct, is disinterested, and ever watchful for the public good; and that the judges who shall try impeachments, will not feel a shadow of biass. Under such circumstances, men will not dare transgress, who, not deterred by such accusers and judges, would repeatedly misbehave. We have already suffered many and extensive evils, owing to the defects of the confederation, in not providing against the misconduct of public officers. When we expect the law to be punctually executed, not one man in ten thousand will disobey it: it is the probable chance of escaping punishment that induces men to transgress. It is one important mean to make the government just and honest, rigidly and constantly to hold, before the eyes of those who execute it, punishment, and dismission from office, for misconduct. These are principles no candid man, who has just ideas of the essential features of a free government, will controvert. They are, to be sure, at this period, called visionary, speculative and anti-governmental—but in the true stile of courtiers, selfish politicians, and flatterers of despotism—discerning republican men of both parties see their value. They are said to be of no value, by empty boasting advocates for the constitution, who, by their weakness and conduct, in fact, injure its cause much more than most of its opponents. From their high sounding promises, men are led to expect a defence of it, and to have their doubts removed. When a number of long pieces appear, they, instead of the defence, &c. they expected, see nothing but a parade of names—volumes written without ever coming to the point—cases quoted between which and ours there is not the least similitude—and partial extracts made from histories and governments, merely to serve a purpose. Some of them, like the true admirers of royal and senatorial robes, would fain prove, that nations who have thought like freemen and philosophers about government, and endeavoured to be free, have often been the most miserable: if a single riot, in the course of five hundred years happened in a free country, if a salary, or the interest of a public or private debt was not paid at the moment, they seem to lay more stress upon these truffles (for truffles they are in a free and happy country) than upon the oppressions of despotic government for ages together."

LETTER XIII.
JANUARY 14, 1788.

Is it just me, or are people well past that fork in the road where the choice to go down the wrong path was made in favor of the criminal path? The above is way too much information for me, someone on the wrong path might say internally. It is too much work, it isn't any of my business, I choose my path, and my path isn't to be my brother's keeper. That works until the psychopaths are at your door demanding absolute obedience. Call 911?

Is it really your path?

To those who will read the warnings, read the details at the crime scene, and form an educated prescription that could serve as lawful judgment in the case, any case whatsoever, to those I will pull apart the data in this case.

The Republics (13 at the time) had a Presiding Federal officer named Richard Henry Lee. He describes Rule of Law and prints the message for Public Consumption. It is Rule of Law even in the Biblical Christian sense. Do onto others as you would have them do onto you. If you are at the fork in the road, and you have not yet been coerced, forced, lured, tricked, or otherwise convinced to take the wrong path, you would (if you have a conscience at that time at the place: the fork in the road) want - you want - other people to convince you to avoid taking the wrong path. Either you have command of internal moral conscience or you do not, it is not complicated.

Those are the words of one of America’s Presidents. One who walked the walk, not just talking the talk.

If you do not belong on a common law independent grand or trial jury, is it because you too are one of the criminals? You have no plan? You have given up your moral conscience a long time ago? You fed the beast instead? You listened to the song of that siren until you too became a beast? Or is it merely a simple matter of ignorance? Are you too ignorant to know the difference between right and wrong and therefore you cannot help your fellows: people at the fork in the road?

People (The Public) are actually at the cross road right now. Before us (we the people) are options. The Public can agree to have our brains filled with sound bites originating from a known and knowable central source of power, to be guided by that external power, doing as told, and doing as told without question or, if individual people choose, people can take a different path. People can take paths that lead on independent courses filled with uncertainty and often confronting clear and present dangers internally and externally. The future is bright, but uncertain.

The Law Power is in the mirror, use it or lose it. The Law Power deters, and does so peacefully, when the Law Power is used as intended. When instead the Central Power takes over, issuing orders to be obeyed without question, the Law Power (each individual in command of moral conscience) may be enticed to take the bait, to allow deception and violence to proceed without accountability: irresponsibly.
