Voluntary Mutual Defense:

Equitable Commerce:

Free Market Government Service Provider Competition Force:

The currency of our current dictatorial government is comparable to currency that was current in the works of people whose ideas did not fit to be tied to dictatorial currency.

Language used to enforce dictatorship onto all is not the same as language used to defend against dictatorships enforced onto all.

Language used to force blind obedience onto all is powerful to that end, as demonstrated factually by the facts that matter in so many cases of dictatorships throughout human history. The accounts of those facts that matter that are written by dictators are accounts written with a language that absolves individuals of accountability, and instead The State is guilty of all the crimes perpetrated by The State. One example may suffice: Bolshevik Russia under Stalin.

The State did it.

How about the language used by people who do not force a mythical State onto society?

"First of all, a striking resemblance of ideas exists on the terminological level. Warren’s main text which contains his theory of price is entitled ‘Equitable Commerce’. Actually, the whole mediaeval debate on the problem of just price is necessarily devoted precisely to the problem of equitable commerce. The Digest of Justinian, which, together with Aristotle’s Nichomachean Ethics, comprises the foundation of the justum pretium concept, reads in 50.17.206: “Jure naturae aequum est neminem cum alterius detrimento et injuria fieri locupletiorem”. It can be translated as: “It is naturally equitable that no one can be enriched at another’s loss or injury”. And as I pointed out before, the whole ‘Equitable Commerce’ is actually about the perverted commercial system which allows a minority to live “by some subtle and hidden means” luxuriously upon the labor of the majority “without rendering an equivalent”."
EQUITABLE COMMERCE: THE MEDIAEVAL ORIGINS OF AMERICAN ANARCHISM
Rodion Belkovich, 2013

How does that fit into the subject of Voluntary Mutual Defense?

I just now found that source material, and it confirms my own understanding of the nature of voluntary association, a time tested human condition that includes the capacity to adapt, which is essential for survival of any species in the natural world.

I stumbled upon that Data just quoted above as I was looking for specific messages from Josiah Warren's Equitable Commerce book.

Example:

“Here, by a jumble of sounding words, “great crimes,” “eternal justice,” “great tribunal of the state,” all of which mean nothing whatever but the barbarian imagination of the speaker, a phantom is got up called the state, which is made to absolve the murderers from the responsibility of the murder. If this responsibility had rested individually upon Couthon, where, in truth, the whole of all that he was talking about existed, he would have shrunk back from taking the first step. But throwing all the responsibility upon the soulless phantom called the state, there was no longer any check to crime! This is raising institutions or the state above the Individual!”

So what does the concept of free trade have to do with a soulless legal fiction?

The so-called Anarchists (Josiah Warren rejected such labeling) claim that there can be no moral government, no soulful government.

The state of ignorance is palpable. The twisting of language by criminals who counterfeit soulful government, replacing individual responsibility and individual accountability with impunity against accountability - criminals counterfeiting government - effectively remove the collective power of human memory; one individual at a time.

Some individuals remember. I do. The author of the book I just found apparently does. Lysander Spooner remembered. These individuals remember, but the sum total of all human memory is ignorant of the facts that matter in the case where criminals counterfeiting soulful government (individual accountability) have erased enough evidence of soulful government to effectively remove the power of it.

By removing the power known to be a power in each individual (human conscience), taking that power from enough individuals, the criminals who create and maintain despotic (counterfeit) governments get away with robbery, assault, extortion, rape, kidnapping, slavery, torture, terror, murder, mass murder, and worse crimes against humanity: which includes themselves. If they are members of the government, but the government did it, then they can happily continue their crime spree, as their victims soullessly blame the government.

So what is a viable solution?

How about reminding people that it is their individual moral conscience that is the source of lawful power, and abdicating the duty charged to you is by default transferring power to those who will abuse that power.

From the new book I found:

"The fact that Warren was critical of the state did not make him less traditional: the state as Warren knew it was a recent invention. There was nothing traditional in government established only fifty years ago in the course of a revolutionary war. It is rarely disputed that the development of the nation state is closely connected to the growth of the bourgeoisie and its main sphere of activity, the free market. Therefore, the ideas which we use to regard as socialist might be rather reactionary in their historical context."

That is an amazing coincidence. This individual writer is working on an idea that Warren was either ignorant of history concerning the just price principle, or he was not ignorant of history and his claims of a "new" idea were fraudulent: he knew his ideas were not new.

Above, by coincidence, is a claim by this author that is either his own ignorance concerning the topic he speaks about, or he does know better, and yet he chooses to fail to express the facts that matter in the case.

Example:

"It is rarely disputed that the development of the nation state is closely connected to the growth of the bourgeoisie and its main sphere of activity, the free market."

The revolutionary idea, expressed in such works as the Declaration of Independence, and so many Bills of Rights, was essentially a move from involuntary association (un-free government markets) to voluntary associations for mutual defense or Free Market Government Markets.

The "development of the nation state" was the intentional annihilation of the Free Government Market by specific people who chose to replace the Free Government Market with a Profitable Monopoly Nation-State (where the people become hereditary property).

The critic of Warren claims:

"There was nothing traditional in government established only fifty years ago in the course of a revolutionary war."

A federation of independent states was established and was agreed upon by members from roughly 1775 to 1789. That is an established fact that matters in this case. The federation worked as a Free Market for competing government providers, as explained in the following work:

Reclaiming the American Revolution: The Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions and Their Legacy
by William Watkins

"Second, federalism permits the states to operate as laboratories of democracy-to experiment with various policies and Programs. For example, if Tennessee wanted to provide a state-run health system for its citizens, the other 49 states could observe the effects of this venture on Tennessee's economy, the quality of care provided, and the overall cost of health care. If the plan proved to be efficacious other states might choose to emulate it, or adopt a plan taking into account any problems surfacing in Tennessee. If the plan proved to be a disastrous intervention, the other 49 could decide to leave the provision of medical care to the private sector. With national plans and programs, the national officials simply roll the dice for all 284 million people of the United States and hope they get things right.

"Experimentation in policymaking also encourages a healthy competition among units of government and allows the people to vote with their feet should they find a law of policy detrimental to their interests. Using again the state-run health system as an example, if a citizen of Tennessee was unhappy with Tennessee's meddling with the provisions of health care, the citizen could move to a neighboring state. Reallocation to a state like North Carolina, with a similar culture and climate, would not be a dramatic shift and would be a viable option. Moreover, if enough citizens exercised this option, Tennessee would be pressured to abandon its foray into socialized medicine, or else lose much of its tax base. To escape a national health system, a citizen would have to emigrate to a foreign country, an option far less appealing and less likely to be exercised than moving to a neighboring state. Without competition from other units of government, the national government would have much less incentive than Tennessee would to modify the objectionable policy. Clearly, the absence of experimentation and competition hampers the creation of effective programs and makes the modification of failed national programs less likely."

Then, in 1787, a faction of Nationalists set about to annihilate that federation and replace that federation with a Nation-State, which they eventually managed to do - fraudulently - in 1789.

So this critic of Warren is himself either ignorant of history (abundantly available) or he is choosing to ignore the facts that he know, the facts that matter in the case.

Here is another telling quote:

"Even if we supposed that Warren himself could sincerely believe that his ideas were totally novel, it would not actually contradict our main thesis. A person, who proposes a conservative scheme of commerce within a growing market-ridden bourgeois ideology, is not necessarily socialist. It is actually more natural to call him conservative or, to be precise, paleoconservative. This term, which appeared in 1980s, was used to define the conservative beliefs which had their origins not in the essentially modern concept of state and bourgeois society, but in the values of Antiquity and the Middle Ages. This layer of thought, which has never been fully abandoned, continued to influence modern thinkers. Some of the latter fully acknowledged this influence,39 but even those who did not, could not fully abstain from the legacy of the past.
39 E.g. the Anti-Federalist thinkers, the state right theorists, the Southern Agrarians."

Can this writer be unaware of the fact that the people advocating voluntary association for mutual defense (free market government services: federation) were falsely called "anti," by the Nationalists who hid behind a false Federalist Party label?

Example:
"He was pleased that, thus early in debate, the honorable gentleman had himself shown that the intent of the Constitution was not a confederacy, but a reduction of all the states into a consolidated government. He hoped the gentleman would be complaisant enough to exchange names with those who disliked the Constitution, as it appeared from his own concessions, that they were federalists, and those who advocated it were anti-federalists."
FRIDAY, June 20, 1788
Melancton Smith

Was that "anti" Federalist one of the "Southern Agrarians"? Is New York part of the south?

Was Pennsylvania part of the South?
