so, this week is lesbian visibility week. but a lot of people are erasing it as lesbian and just as lgbt week. i hate that if i'm being honest. lesbians have basically no representation and are rarely talked about anymore. there is so much discrimination and hate towards lesbians rn.

I find it weird that the first freaking letter of the LGBTQ acronym is under-represented, and not regarded with the respect it deserves. Homosexual women are a thing. Why treat lesbians like they're not relevant or important?

you know why. it's because lesbians have committed the two ultimate sins as women: 1) being female in a men's world 2) being attracted to women only and not men. people will try to erase us, but i'm glad some are standing strong.
@Bilitis true story - I'm a bisexual woman and I see the way the lesbian community gets discriminated against (even by members of the LGBTQ community itself), and I'm stupefied by it. Part of the problem is that lesbians aren't always taken seriously as women whose attraction is exclusive to other women. Nobody's orientation should ever be invalidated, but the identity of a lesbian is invalidated more than anybody else's. At its worst, it amounts to blatant misogyny and homophobia, and it's gross.
@alexlgarzon that's what it comes down to, ultimately--female desire as a whole isn't taken seriously, and female homosexuality even less so, so lesbians are naturally the 'easiest' to erase. i'm glad some gay and bisexual people are supporting lesbians...all too often in leftist circles it becomes a pissing contest of who is most 'valid.' ugh.
