I am a Christian man, and the Dad of an incredible young woman who had always been asexual until recently, when she came out as a lesbian. And I have a question. The issue of her sexuality does not involve my acceptance. I accept her and her sexuality. Besides, it is reality regardless of whether I accept it. And it's not a matter of love. I love her with all my heart. As I have told her since she was born her, "I loved her then. And I love her still. I always have. And I always will." My question is this: Do you think it's possible to possess Christian beliefs that homosexuality is a sin, but have the opinion that everyone sins and people should not judge others just because they sin differently than they do?

awwww i appreciate this. i think its not so much "acceptance" if its something you can't change, right?

You're correct Arielle. It's not "acceptance." But I don't know all the current acceptable terminology so I guess I don't know how to describe it. I simply meant that nothing has changed in my opinion of or relationship with my daughter. And it won't. But nothing will change about my faith or belief either. And I'm having trouble reconciling the two things in my mind. I've watched some of your videos on YouTube, and you seem to have the intellect to be able to understand the complexities and nuances of an issue. So I joined Slug hoping to get you opinion so as to understand it from a different perspective and perhaps better think through and process the situation.

I think it's possible to have that belief, sure. And I think it's possible for a person to have that belief with good intentions.

But I've heard that kind of talk before. It doesn't make me feel good that someone thinks MY love for my wife is a sin (I'm a trans man - born female, transitioned to male), but their love for THEIR spouse is pure and sacred. In my mind, love is one of the greatest gifts. How deeply hurtful that someone believes my heart is only made for sin, not capable of pure, sacred love. Honestly, this is one of the things that drove me away from religion.

Actually,a Christian loves Jesus The Christ with ALL their heart because He
is Holy and Righteous. I don't think that you are acquainted with the Truth.
The churches do not teach the Truth regarding family nor homosexuality.
If you love your daughter more than Christ, you should rethink your belief!

I am not looking for a theological debate. And although your comment is not responsive to my question as it was asked, I appreciate you taking the time to write.
