It is the desecration of the memory of someone who protected the rights of the disenfranchised. You can't get much lower than that. If you know anyone who knows anyone who did this or created this image, I hope you will let them know how little anyone respects them.

I have not been able to find any other images of this damage. I believe if the Lincoln Memorial had been damaged this severely the web would be flooded with these images. It would be impossible to entirely censor.
I will continue to search.

I've also looked for it, but the only information I can find on the Lincoln Memorial being vandalized were limited to columns and the stairs being spray painted. Nothing about the statue.
I just hope this image is fake. If it isn't, that's just... sad. Really, really sad. Lincoln did so much for this country.

I sent this photograph to a friend, a retired army colonel. He was so upset by this that he has contacted an associate in DC. He was told that it was heavily guarded and no one is permitted in that area to confirm it. Geeeez, Why would someone photoshop something like this?
