I wonder if it isn't that our society functions well enough that makes it hard to make a positive vision for the future. The left is all about bringing down the structures of oppression, but whenever they go for a positive presentation it just sounds utopian. The right can poke holes in the ideas of the left, taking apart the self-referential structures of the narratives, but it's hard to organize a real world groundswell to actually defend traditionalism or nationalism against the New World Order.
The only people on the right that I see able to accomplish anything are doing it through leftist tactics of community organizing, mostly by trying to persuade people back into their local churches and civic organizations. Often I see it framed in much the same way as Marxists do, as in building community (communal?) institutions so that some structures exist that can be scaled up once the left manages to bring down the social and cultural hierarchies.
The conservative mantra of constitutionalism isn't a vision. In fact, defending the constitution in many ways requires a hell of a lot of the tearing down of governmental institutions, too. Limiting the governmental infringements on liberty, and its systemic regulatory framework that promotes and upholds globalization and globalism.
It just seems easier to see what stands in the way and then break things than to figure out how to promote positive ideas on how to adjust reality for the better.
