It is because they are hard working honest and nice people who want to make a better life for themselves and their families and will do it in a legal and useful way.
Hence Filipinos are welcome here ...
I imagine it is the same reason they are welcomed into the US as well and why there are so many of them.

NZ currently has a massive shortage of nurses, engineers and some trades peoples.
We are actively recruiting overseas for these people. We cannot train then fast enough to help our growing country.
Nurses are saving lives in NZ!
They are growing our economy.
Without them we would have the same problems the US would have if you did not take highly skilled immigrants.

NZ takes immigrants from all countries that are skilled, crime free and willing to build this country.
We take more white immigrants than any other race group, however we take Indian, Chinese, South Africans (all colours of the rainbow nation), Americans, British, Finnish, Zimbabwean...
it is great when you are not a bigot and accept people for who they are and not judge them on your religion or their skin colour.
Then again I doubt you will be able to find NZ on a world map... if your basement where you live in even have something like that.

Many fils have college degrees there but there are few jobs. Many fils are more American patriots than Americans and would die to come here. Many find the race issues here quite a joke. If the fils had stayed under American control, they would not have experienced the poverty they do due to dictators.
