@GeeMac He had an eight grade education when my grandfather put him to work as a logger in 1917!!
During the 1960's, Dad taught PostGraduate Forestry for the University of Washington and was considered, by some, as a top expert in his field!!! His education never went beyond the eight grade!!!
YES, He was Smart, a WW II Vet, a very good father and kind man, but one you would not want to cross!!!

@Serg97 thanks, sometimes the more education we get, the dumber we become, especially when the focus is on indoctrination. So I go by what people do, not by what degrees they have on the wall. That’s another reason I laugh at “privilege”. People of my grandfather’s generation did long days of backbreaking labour in dangerous industries that often left them with lifelong injuries. They barely made ends meet, and they had no time for school, but they took care of their families and never complained. No one group has a monopoly on “oppression”, but I respect everyone who rises above it.

Vancouver’s downtown east side is a slice of third world misery in the middle of one of the world’s most affluent cities. Why does this skid row nightmare exist? Because politicians, drug dealers, charities and slumlords all grow wealthy together on the backs of the poor.

I had a friend who is now passed on. Many years ago we were discussing the cost of drug rehabilitation and he said, "$25,000.00! If I had $25,000.00 I wouldn't have a drug problem." When you follow the money, almost all of it goes back to the banks...where it came from.

@GeeMac , Since The Democrat Politicians , all seem to be Social workers at Heart, Why not let them reduce their voters and City to the place where all who need drugs and mental help, live together. Then we could build a wall, with a welcoming gate, open all evenings, and they could all live in their preferred space.? The funding could be difficult. Perhaps the voters who want to be helpful, could work and donate their wages to the City-Hospice? No Federal Funds allowed! This all must be voted in, voluntarily. They might send out people to transport all who want to live in this City-Hospice, to go across the land looking for their flock. A few might even rejoin the rest of us, with politicians who can do the numbers, and make decisions, with their voters approval. I am getting carried away.....full Stop.

@Machiavelliwar, @Geofrank The recovery industry is a big sector, and growing all the time. There are huge waiting lists for the few addicts who want recovery, and some of the private facilities charge exorbitant rates, knowing that the great possibility of relapse means repeat business.
