If you were watching at home you might have cringed and rolled your eyes when candidate Biden, either misread his lines or slurred his words. At one crucial point he even said: “There has never been anything we’ve been able to accomplish when we’ve done it together.” Yikes...
Yet media assessments were almost universally exalting the show and Biden. CNN Host Wolf Blitzer and the station’s chief political analyst, Gloria Borger, basically said:“It may have been the best speech that Joe Biden ever delivered.” Oops... now that is setting a low bar. The over-hyped reaction from them and others betrays the fear insiders must have about Biden. Does he have the ability to actually walk onto a stage and read a teleprompter without a making a major gaffe? That journalists and commentators have accepted such a low bar for a presidential candidate is a huge worry. That the bias and barracking should has been so exuburant and blatant is also disturbing.
According to the polls, Biden is the frontrunner. The Dems will look to minimise his face to face engagement, while Trump will seek to challenge as much as possible. The role of the media will be crucial. Will they push and prod, or simply attack Trump and laud Biden? No prizes for guessing the correct answer to that one.
This week's coverage of the Republican National Convention, will answer that soon enough. On form so fr one would have to think that while the media generally seemed to lose its cynicism and forget how to question politicians last week, they will rediscover their attack mojo this week.
There are 2 words that best describe how the media react in politics today...
Mollycoddle and Attack.

From what I've read, the tone and content of the event, and the media's fawning reaction, is exactly what I expected from the most self-serving group of people I've ever seen.
