Mao In Manhattan

Among the many “reforms” from Mao’s Cultural Revolution, along with book burnings, erasing history, and genocide, was his plan to send college professors and brain surgeons into the countryside and put them to work digging dirt. Meanwhile, he tasked ignorant peasants with the nation’s medical and educational needs. When the Khmer Rouge overran Cambodia, they tried something similar, emptying the cities and making honest peasants of every one. Most starved to death, of course. Such is the egalitarian goal of the socialist utopia.

Note this recent excerpt from a radio interview given by Bill DeBlasio, NYC’s clown mayor:

“Help me tax the wealthy. Help me redistribute wealth. Help me build affordable housing in white communities,” he told WNYC last week. Indoor dining can’t restart because it’s for rich people, he said.

For most of its decades long experiment with socialism, NYC viewed the wealthy, business owners and people who actually worked for a living as money trees, ripe with goodies to be plucked at will to fund their ever-expanding welfare system. Lately, though, due most likely to the confidence born of stupidity, DeBlasio’s attitude is “Get Lost. We don’t need you.”

It’s working. I’d love to see him break down the socialist math that suggests the city can survive in this new order, but at least whoever remains will be equal—equally poor, equally miserable. Well, not everyone. The mayor and his utterly corrupt, incompetent, full-on Communist wife will be doing just fine: the Nicolae and Elena Ceaușescu on the Hudson.
