LINK Trump’s gene comments ‘indistinguishable from Nazi rhetoric’, expert on Holocaust says | The Independent
Combined with yesterdays comments re: an executive order to forbid Biden from running, it seems de makes it easy to draw comparison with fascism or Nazi.
Not sure if this latest comment is because:
a) it plays to his base. (my opinion)
b) he's ignorant of the context.
c) he honestly believes in genetic superiority merely because one lives in Minnesota
c) some other reason I can't fathom
Now I know that there are a few on this board who have no problem with Nazi ideology and the genetic superiority of people merely because they come from Minnesota, or because of skin color, or because of cultural background... but that isn't the point here.
The point is why would any politician choose to use language that invites comparison with defeated regimes (Nazi germany circa 30's and 40's) and outdated ideology (eugenics) if he doesn't believe in that language.
It's like the protests in Oregon make it easy for the right to accuse the left of violence... while language like this makes it easy for the left to accuse the right of fascism.
Seems like neither side cares what they do or say as long as it plays to their base.

I made the mistake of believing you were intelligent enough to recognize sarcasm (which is what I should have said rather than "mocking" ) pretty close to the same thing though

Yet you cannot draw the same conclusions between Stalinism and any of the Democrat candidates?
Both of course are ludicrous.
The Democratic candidates are not Stalinists and Trump is not a Nazi. Even though the comments made by many Democrats are closer to Stalin than Trump is to Hitler.
What makes this even more ridiculous is the mixture of different races in the audience.
He was blowing smoke up their backsides so they would vote for him... like all politicians do just before and election... nothing to do with Nazism.

Honestly, I think he was kinda tongue in cheek saying this. I don’t think he truly wants a master race or anything. Nordic People were strong and intelligent. There’s a reason the America’s, Australia and South Africa are controlled by white People! And these Nordic People did NOT worship a SEMITic Desert God!

So Trump praises Scandanavian pioneers and that makes him a Nazi? I am descended from Norwegian immigrants on my mother's side. I even had a couple Norwegian bachelor farmers as uncle's. Does praising my Scandahoovian ancestors make me a Nazi?

Basic logic (thank you Aristotle). Asserting that Minnesotans' Scandanavian ancestors had "good genes" does not assert that anyone elses genes are inferior.
And since neither Minnesotans nor Scandanavians had deliberate breeding programs for racial purity, the Nazi Lebensborn program is utterly irrelevant.

As to the statement about "good genes," Trump would have had to assert the Scandanavian genes were "best" to also assert other genes were inferior. He did not. You can infer that value statement, but that's your action, not his.
In truth, what Trump was speaking about is how the generally Scandinavian pioneers built a stable, orderly, hard working subculture in the upper mid-west. An echo of their home societies here in the US.
