Given that Minnesota has a percentage of Scandinavian Americans, it doesn't surprise me that he'd comment on their "good genes." He's made similar comments about good genes before and it never comes out right. I don't understand why he mentions genes at all at a presidential rally.

In response to the MiddleWay's reply below that he tagged me in, I can say based on my past interactions with him MiddleWay tends to be moderate and go where the evidence follows. Some times he agreed with the President, other times not.

Considering that in the crowd there were whites, blacks, hispanics, asians... he meant they were good people with good ancestry and they should be proud of who they are.
Proud to be Minnesotans, proud to be Americans.
If he said this to an exclusive group of white kids... maybe you can argue.

Are humans not animals with genetic variation, subject to selection pressures based on environmental forces and variations?
We and our mating and status granting behaviors ARE a breeding program.
The point is, we're the products of the natural selective breeding program that IS social and sexual selection within the civilizational demands and expectations. We're the result of history's breeding program.

Have you never seen nor heard of someone speaking to a group (often times young students) trying to give them encouragement to keep striving to achieve? To remind them of their potential for better things if not greater things and using the rhetorical talk/words about "good genes"...?
I think you have - and I think the only reason it bothers you is because in this case it is the evil orange man trying to encourage people who he perceives and needing encouragement.

I think this is a deliberately misconstrued response to the "racehorse theory" If you substitute the word "genes" for the word "people" then the "racehorse theory" makes perfect sense.
