57 years ago post Bay of Pigs fiasco JFK created Memoranda 55, 56 and 57 which would require the Joint Chiefs of Staff to directly communicate unfiltered information and recommendations with/to the President. The DODJCS would be in charge and the CIA would resume their assigned duties of gathering/analysing intelligence and other involvement in para-military and covert ops. Memo 57 was never enforced as the JSC knew and feared that this meant a war with the Dulles brothers and the CIA. So, the JCS did nothing and two years later JFK is assassinated. Well, Trump just smacked the hornet's nest and game on! Dark Journalist does a good job of the background and JFK's three memoranda to reign in the CIA. Listen to at least the first 10-15 minutes and then jump to 58 minutes if you just want the skinny. This is going to be interesting.
