@MichelleD because it is unfortunately true. You cannot tell me that if a large group of Black men tried storming the Capitol, the police response wouldn't have been exponentially worse.

It doesn't even have to be Black men, but people supporting Black causes - such as BLM. The difference between police response to BLM protests this past Summer vs armed people breaking into the US Capitol while government action was taking place is staggering. We have even identified several of the people who were breaking windows and stealing items like the Speaker's podium - none have been arrested so far.

During the inauguration in 2017, police kettled 200-some anti-Trump protesters in the freezing cold and arrested them after 16 hours, then tried to put them in prison for 70 years on the accusation that collectively they broke a window. [theintercept.com] Yet here you have people actually breaking into the US Capitol, threatening the lives of elected officials trying to certify the Electoral College, and they were all allowed to walk away free.

I don't want to make it a race thing, it just is.

By the way, I choose to respond to you, since you are at least engaging in civil debate and have been understanding, even if we disagree. I'd recommend you distance yourself from the others like Tom and Edgework who just throw out Ad Hominem attacks and don't actually contribute.

But if you insist, then sure, I'll leave out the word. It has everything to do with Left-Wing vs Right-Wing. When people were protesting clear cases of police overreach and brutality, the police responded with even more overreach and brutality. When actual armed groups tried to storm the Capitol, the police basically opened the barriers, let them in, and took selfies.

@JacksonNought I can see all that, albeit from a different perspective, but I really believe that race theory has become a weaponized mantra that is being used to actually induce a race war. It lost it's usefulness at that point. You and others who jumped on this train do not seem to see any other narrative outside of this one. Everything filters through this one lens and your world view is organized with it in mind. I don't deny racism exists. I don't deny systemic racism is still in play but the response at this point is creating the vary thing that you guys say you're fighting against. You need to find a different approach. You don't fight racism with racism. You don't help a group get cultural pride by shaming others for being born with a different skin color. The whole thing is so blatantly destructive, I can't see why anyone cannot see it. The issues are greater than race. Move above the mantra.

@MichelleD I agree that shaming others for being a different race is wrong, and there were certainly extremists attacking White people or asking them to get on their knees and beg for forgiveness or wash their feet or what-have-you. But, sorry to say, it sounds like you are an extremist on a different side of the topic. I am not calling you a racist by any means, but it appears as if you cannot see someone bring up race in an issue without being heavily disgusted and completely dismissing any opinions or related facts because of it. It isn't "race theory" to just observe what is happening in real life.

During the BLM protests in the Summer, police used excessive force at the drop of a hat. Trump railed against the protest and called people terrorists and that they'd start shooting and they should be in jail at least 10 years for damaging a federal building.

In the protest that took place at the Capitol yesterday, police let people past barriers, took selfies with people who stormed the Capitol, and then let them leave without issue. Trump called them patriots and said he loved them.

One of these things is not like the other. What do you think that is?

@JacksonNought I live in Eugene Oregon. I don't know if you realize how much it is shoved down my throat so excuse me if I am adverse to it. I think political correctness is being used as a sort of abuse by proxy. Its gone from a dood thing to a dangerous thing. I am a caregiver so I am entrenched in nonsense ideologies that once served to create equality but now polarizes views and punishes those who are not its mockingbird. If that makes me an extremist in your eyes, that in itself is proof of what I am saying.
