When Confederate cavalry General Nathan Bedford Forrest was interred in a Memphis park in 1904, it must have seemed a great honor. Then the neighborhood turned and Forrest's grave was constantly under foot of negros and transients. One would think the Left would enjoy that turn of events, but they insisted on disinterring Forrest and removing his statue. I'm thinking it's what he would have wanted, given the change of scenery.
It makes me wonder how much longer any statue has to stand. Personally I'd like to see the MLK and Lincoln statues removed from DC. It might not be in my lifetime, but I can guarantee it will be someday.
