I agree that it would be extremely difficult. I suspect it would take a number of states banding together to pull it off.

@KeithThroop Yes. Even than it would be a big problem. Its not a matter of states as much as leverage and leverage can be small yet powerful. if Trump was in office or someone from Texas as president maybe. It Texas republicans somehow win majority in house and senate etc. That kind of thing. Or if all the big companies leave all the other states and move to Texas and use their weight to help. But even that would be close to impossible.

Who would get the military control? Who would get the nukes? How would the traffic, air and land work? What about constitution or any other still existing legislation? What about all the family and friends and lovers of people in different places? And how would Texas stop immigration? Would they make it like Berlin wall? Does that seems like a country or war zone?

Too many problems to even contemplate. And off course Texas being rich in resources, land and capital, would be major loss those in power cannot afford to lose. So they would use every possible dirty trick in a book to sabotage the process. Like Brexit. And even if Texas somehow manages to split apart, its not like they would have easy time surviving on their own surrounded by hostile states and administrations who would make sure they pay for it.

And if number of states do split apart, same problem. They would not be allowed to leave unless they have major leverage or in the event of armed conflict that they win.

So I think its more likely will see cultural split and to extent local politics differences. Off course there is always the danger of people leaving for Texas from other states to bring their bad ideas with them and there is always a problem of illegal immigration if Biden opens borders, plus there is problem of local corruption in Texas. Cartels moving in as well. And Austin, from what I hear is California in Texas. While Huston and Dallas I think also have democrats for majors. First order of business for Texans should be to kick any lefty out of the state. All the officials and make it hard on any lefty who want to preach California progressive culture there or any kind of SJW.

Texas should also make itself clear oasis for conservatives. Low taxes, pro Christian, anti abortion, pro free speech, anti lefty, anti communist, pro family, and pro constitution of USA. Pro patriotic curriculum in schools. etc. Protection and education about second amendment. Get rid of any feminists and their derivatives and grow chest hair. And attract base of business for economy and conservatives for strong culture and voting base. Elect grass root people, no swamp creatures for office in all the counties and cities and off course guverner and align with the rest of the states that might be inclined or persuaded to do that same. Make an alliance with them and build stronger set of conservative states and improve your geopolitical position.

Make alliances with other places in the world who share same values. Other counties and states and countries in the world. Slowly get stronger and unified with no lefty subversion. And that will take time but if that is the plan the Texas is committed they are still strong enough to pull it off. If they can, than they would have a chance to either go up against D.C. or have leverage to make the prospect of leaving the union a serious matter.

@Lightman I did read that, well mostly looked into it. I don't think that today much of that applies. Just like Brexit showed. The players are different. For example , if Texas wanted to leave, they would be sabotaged and attacked and they have to realize they are not dealing with US constitution or supreme court, they are dealing with Davos and cartel of powerful external players, as well as deep state and swamp. I mean they just stole the election in front of everyone and declared war on much of the people in America. They don't play by rules of what Wikipedia writes about. Those are the rules for different times.

For Texas to try to leave would be like Catalonia trying to leave Spain. Ain't gonna happen. Texas needs leverage that it does not have at the moment.

@Krunoslav I think you will find they are good historical examples and they are the rules which the Dems will use to prevent any secession.

@Lightman Probably yes. Although lefties have shown they will try anything to prevent it, unless it benefits them. Also if referendum is conducted I think it would be until November before voting and than discussion and negotiations and God knows what, so much like Brexit even after vote, it took them 4-5 years to barely get out. And and don't expect anything less from Texas, even if they do manage it. It would be at least half a decade in the works. So for the time being I think there is not much to take from it, except that its another idea on the table.

On the other end Democrats want D.C. to become another state or something. And they might do it, because they have more power right now.

Brexit was about Britain regaining it's national sovereignty. Not breaking up a country that already exists like the United States of America... Britain is the United Kingdom... an equivalence would be for Wales or England to want to secede from the United Kingdom not Brexit.

@Lightman On paper you might be correct. But in practice, its almost the same. Deep state and the swamp and globalists and media and all that is the equivalent of EU and Texas is like Britain. Texas is even calling it 'TEXIT'; as inspired by Brexit.

My point is that no matter how it looks on paper, non of that matters. As we have seen with election, lefties are more than happy to use double standards, new laws, ignoring existing laws and use all the underhanded methods they can use.... just like during long tired Brexit process.

Trust me, its the same people in EU who want global governance behind Washington and London. So no matter the difference on paper, in practice you can expect same underhanded methods being employed as during Brexit. Its the same thing. Same people are going to use similar methods to prevent losing yet another country. They want global governance and they will try to prevent any country or state to move away from their control. All the legal differences are largely academic.
