I have grown really tired of people suggesting that supporting Trump was equivalent to being an uneducated ignoramus. The same people who voted for two of the most demonstrably incompetent politician in my life time. I want to make it clear that I don't like Trump. What is so irritating is what does "liking" have to do with anything but your choice of mates and how you choose to spend your free time. I can however muster some sympathy for him the same as I can for poor demented Biden or Barack Obama's confusion over his abandonment by his father. People are flawed and I'm too old for hero worship. The question still remains why people choice to vote for any particular flawed individual. If you decision is driven by a platform liking the person has little to do with it. Clearly that is not how most people decide who to vote for. Even if it was if you are a thinking person you will not agree with everything in a candidates platform meaning you have to set priorities.

In 2016 China was my priority which meant voting for Hillary was out of the question. As secretary of State she had already demonstrated that she was rash and incompetent along with the entire Obama team. The Ukraine, Syria, Libya, Iran, Israel, how much more evidence did anyone need. Russia invaded the Ukraine, Syria sent millions of refuges fleeing to Europe and saw the rise of ISIS, Libya is a hell hole with open slave markets now, Iran was sponsoring terror everywhere and spawning wars, and the Israel Palestine issue was preventing peace in the Middle East. After the disastrous foreign policy performance of Obama how could anyone vote for Clinton. But people in the U.S. don't vote on Foreign policy unless their are piles of body bags coming home. They vote according to how they feel.

So why China as the highest priority? It really comes down to history. The decline of British Hegemony and the rise of Germany military and economic power was a direct cause of WWI and WWII. The U.S. was clearly entering a phase of declining hegemony that was encouraged by Obama. His education clearly wasn't very complete. It was warped by his negative feelings towards the U.S. instilled by his hippie mother and communist father, his Muslim upbringing in Indonesia, his confusion over racial identity, his racist wife, his association with the race card industry, the class bigotry of having lived a privileged life, Marxist professors, effeminate tendencies, and the temptations of an establishment that puts personal interests above everything else. Obama didn't know the people of America only the distorted image he had been taught. The U.S. has always been an isolationist country from the perspective of the average citizen. Whatever aggression it engaged in was egged on by the elite classes preying on the ignorance that would be expected of those who prefer isolation. The relevant history is that the elites were profiting from German expansion while the people did nothing to stop it. Once war was unavoidable only then did the elites turn to war for profits at home and push patriotic resistance to the masses. The same pattern repeats for China.

Chang has a biased point of view and I can't tell you if he is right or not. All I can say is I see similarities between world politics and those that preceded WWI and WWII. You may think that other issues such as Global Warming or social justice are more important but if there is a war with China I guarantee you will feel differently very quickly. To be clear I don't expect war to break out. I expect that the current economic, cyber, and propaganda war to continue. We are not counting the body bags but the corruption that this war is prompting is a significant problem. It is also true that few people expected WWI. What is confusing is that you have to way the risk of confrontation now against the risk of doing nothing.
