Politicians are allowed to change their minds. He wasn't elected in 2006, he was elected in 2020. Why not stick to things he said on the 2020 campaign trail, or things he says during his presidency... like Trump running on a platform for building a wall and calling Mexicans "rapists".

I thought more of changing their minds was just plain simple politicking. In all fairness, he may have been for the fence due to an incident in his jurisdiction from MS-13 & some other minor Mexican drug/human trafficking rings. Also, I am giving him the benefit of the doubt with he going against most of his demo party ect. MAYBE he had to compromise for the presidential election support, who knows?
