California has a tentacle tax. They tax you even after you leave the state.
If you spend more than 60 days in the state they declare you a resident and start taxing you.
California has the highest state tax in the nation.
If California wants to stop people from leaving, they'll have to build a wall.
Come to think of it, we've seen these kinds of walls before.

Florida tried the same on business taxes, even though we had left there as refugees and had to close up everything due to their over regulating, and suffered for years from the predatory lending of housing market.

@jaymaron we escaped from Florida 2005 and they were trying to say we owed them business tax (after we left owing nothing in tax liability) several years after we did not even have a license any more in Florida and had not even been there to visit let alone set up at shows, and they argued that well you could have done this or done that, but it was NO we did not, the underlying root of the problem was we walked away from the house we had in Rockledge (we refinanced took an equity lump sum during predatory lending and they jacked the interest rate up when they had us in between a rock and hard place & then we signed our beloved house over to someone else that they approved) and they had a logistical nightmare trying to figure it out, a problem they created and endorsed

I cannot confirm this personally, but I have read several times that U.S expats living overseas 100% of the time still owe the U.S Federal income tax, even if none of that was earned in the U.S. Basically, not only do they have to pay the taxes of the country they live and work in, but also U.S taxes, unless they renounce citizenship and give up their passport.
So...yeah, taxing foreign nationals for income earned "in the U.S" certainly sounds like a U.S thing to do. Those "stimulus" packages sending billions to foreign nations ain't gonna pay for itself, you know.
