Remember 5 years ago, when they told us Bill C-16 would never be used to jail someone for the "crime" of misgendering someone? Trust your government folks!
Putting a pause on puberty:
-decreases bone density and has a risk for osteoporosis in the future
-affects the entire body including brain development, which still may or may not begin to develop again after hormone therapy (these procedures on children have only been around since 2007)
Hormone therapy, which can begin as early as 13:
-may put the child at a higher risk for heart disease or diabetes later in life
-risk of blood clots increases for those who start estrogen
-risk for cancer is an unknown, (but it is included in the warnings doctors give their patients)
-and taking cross hormones can reduce fertility
As far as regretting it later in life, the articles I've read are about adults and not children, (the same goes for the articles I read about transgenders who said they believe transitioning younger would have had a positive effect on their mental health), but all this physical risk vs pure speculation, should be all the more reason to scrutinize this even more.
I don't have any problems with adults who want to transition, only children. Mentally, they are far too young to understand the risks. Physically, there are too many risks to promote this as easily as it's being promoted.
Jailed for misgendering his daughter. I get why guys don't trust women, would rather date a robot, and question having kids, a little more each day.
