Many women are resentful, spiteful, and vengeful bitches, this is what happens when you give them power!

I was curious as to Tucker's allegation that this AG bragging about arresting the restaurant owner for appearing on Tucker's show, so I went to go look for it. Here's a quote from her press conference:

Marlena Pavlos-Hackney had countless opportunities to comply with even the most basic health and safety protocols to protect her community from the spread of COVID. She defied her local health department and the court at every turn, instead choosing to taunt health inspectors, law enforcement and the courts at every turn- going on Tucker Carlson and setting up a lucrative Go Fund Me account instead of making even the slightest effort to protect her customers, her workers and community. She is no martyr and no hero. One cannot repeat the mantra of "Law & Order" and support the activities of Ms Pavlos-Hackney. But if you cheered Donald Trump when he bragged about the many ways he avoided military service while others complied with their legal obligations, it's no wonder you revere this woman. Making personal sacrifice for the greater good of our state and nation was once considered admirable. Not anymore. (1)

So...I wouldn't go so far as to say that Tucker's accusation is correct - I don't believe that she was arrested for going on Tucker Carlson - but there sure is a lot to unpack here.

For starters, it's not clear to me what the restaurant owner was actually arrested for. What was the charge?

A bench warrant had been issued for her arrest by an Ingham County judge on March 5 for failure to comply in a civil case filed against her by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development(MDARD). Nessel said in a press release sent out after her arrest that a customer had tested positive for COVID-19 within two days of eating at the restaurant. She also said that Pavlos-Hackney was informed of the bench warrant on March 11. In a brief appearance in court on Friday, Pavlos-Hackney was denied bond and placed in the Ingham County jail. She was issued another fine of $7,500— bringing her total fines to $15,000 -- and was told she would remain in jail until she "demonstrated compliance." (2)

So, basically, she was arrested for contempt of court and denied bond for "failure to comply in a civil case." Okay...what do we know about that?

MDARD suspended Marlena's food establishment license on January 20, 2021. The restaurant has been operating without a license since then - in violation of the Michigan Food Law. An administrative hearing was held on February 1 to determine if the suspension was proper and on February 11 the Administrative Law Judge issued a decision and an order continuing the summary suspension of Marlena's food license. Okay...but do we know why the MDARD revoked her license?

State investigators said Pavlos-Hackney had allowed indoor dining when it was banned, wasn’t enforcing mask rules and was ignoring capacity limits. (4)

And there you have it folks; this woman was put in jail for not abiding by the governor's executive orders. Draw your own conclusions.

I also find it rather interesting that the AG decided to make a comment about Donald Trump in a matter that had less than nothing to do with him. Why would she do that?

Several hundred supporters, including West Michigan residents, Republicans seeking office in 2022 and “patriot” activists, held a rally outside Marlena’s Bistro and Pizzeria Saturday calling for the release of Marlena Pavlos-Hackney. A battle between a restaurant owner who refused to comply with public health orders holds larger implications for conservatives who said the arrest affirms their worst fears about “freedom” being under attack during a pandemic.(5)

Furthermore:

Michigan Republican Party co-chair Meshawn Maddock told the crowd that Attorney General Dana Nessel should spend her time investigating the impact of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s nursing home policies. Maddock said Whitmer is responsible for the death of senior citizens and should be incarcerated. “In case Dana Nessel needs some help with legal ethics, let’s jail the governor for killing grandma but not waitresses and line cooks that just want to earn a living,” Maddock said as a crowd of hundreds cheered. “Friends, we are accused of being racist, sexist and stupid, all of you. They want to fire us, cancel us, silence us, while they go about with their treachery. I am imploring you to find your voice. Stand up, fight back and be brave.” Nessel announced last week that she will not launch a criminal investigation into the effect of Whitmer’s nursing home policies. In a letter to state lawmakers, Nessel said she has found no evidence warranting a criminal inquiry but would not hesitate to act if the situation changes.

So keeping a restaurant open is "selfish" and "unethical," but putting COVID-infected patients in nursing homes is apparently okay. Again, draw your own conclusions.
