21.03.31.1833W MASCULINITY IS CREATIVITY: The Hudson Hornet was, a not too popular, example of American Excellence – (I wanted to say Exceptionalism just to aggravate the socialist wokesters that may be reading this post; but I don’t think Hudson actually rose to the level of exceptionalism – could be wrong? American excellence it was though.
As I recall there was a model from this company that should’ve but for some reason didn’t compete with Checker Automobiles – don’t know why?
Although there’s many things interesting about this video, the one that stands out to me most is the first I’ve ever heard of 6 volt alternators. I suppose that the reason that stands out most to me personally is that would’ve saved my first automobile – a 1954 Lincoln. The conversions to 12 volt systems from 6 volt was a complete horror story in the day. Just slapping a 6 volt alternator on it would’ve been like a miracle.
The next interesting thing concerns the lack of respect given the straight 6 cylinders engines. Personally, I’d compare it to what’s currently happening to 32 bit software – and 16 bit as well. Could be wrong, but 32 bit is that cut off point at which any further so called improvement only serves to sell more software & further complicate computing. For instance, I’ve yet to find financial software that could accomplish all that the old 16 bit MYM (Managing Your Money) DOS software could. Not Quicken or any other software developer has created its equal. The first GUI Lotus 123 software was exceptionally good. But like everything else it succumbed to the needless march of technology – my opinion.
Leno pointed out how government stepped in to break up automobile company monopoly in the day. SO WHY ISN’T GOVERNMENT STEPPING IN TO BREAK UP THE OBVIOUS BIG TECH MONOPOLY GOING ON RIGHT NOW? Could it be because they’re the propaganda arm of the socialist party?
