Many years ago ‘oligarchy’ meant a ruling family such as you may have read about in history books – I’m thinking of Italian history in particular such as the Demarchi family. A ruling family as opposed to a single head of state – a monarchy. If the word ‘oligarchy’ is to be accepted along with its current definition, we are indeed looking at a most insidious form of ruler-ship by a small group of self appointed elitists that may or may not be blood relations.
Was it George Orwell or Stalin that said they (socialists) were all equal – just some are more equal than others? My last such question about who had said something was quickly answered by @FrankZelenluk - it was a Karl Marx statement. Thank you Frank.
I fail to understand why people of influence want to dispense with the word socialism & slap the new moniker of ‘oligarchy’ on this pig. Seems to me that Socialist Imperialism would be much more descriptive term – but that’s just me? It’ll not matter in the long run what this evil is called, regardless of what mask you put on it, it’s still rooted in the very first sin attributed to humanity – covetousness. And I just don’t like the evasion of calling it what it actually is without word manipulation.
