We're already there. A witch hunt is being performed on every current Republican member of Congress and Senate to see if anywhere and/or in any way each member can be black-balled and discredited. Look what they did to Matt Gaetz. And why are they now dragging Paul Ryan out again to discredit and belittle Trump?

That one, I think, is because they realize that they won power through smoke and mirrors and fear the voters now waking up in a country where literally everything seems to have gone horribly, horribly wrong. I mean, two years ago, who would've thought we'd be facing a hyperinflation crisis? Fuel shortages? Food shortages? Massive available employment, yet no one wanting the jobs? For those that haven't been paying attention, it's enough to openly ask, "what the heck happened?!"

The political Left knows this and is scared what Trump could do if he were somehow re-elected as backlash. So they continue to attack him. They try to pin all of this mess they created in mere months, on him. To them, the Great Reset must proceed and he would ruin it. They are that afraid of him.

@Alysandir I've seen that for some time now. Trump strikes terror in every one of them. That's why the criminal investigation prior to actually having found any criminal wrong-doing. They are terrified they have proven him right on all counts and more and more voters can see this. Trump derailed their plod toward technocracy and unveiled all their sneaking plans and deceits.

The problem is, they have been effective in vilifying him, at least to the churchmice. We have Biden today not because Biden presented a superior platform - did he have a platform? - but because he wasn't Trump. They convinced the churchmice that all they had to do was pull the lever for Biden and everything would go back to normal.

Well, we knew better, didn't we? And you'd like to think some others are now sadder and wiser for the experience. But I fear that there are still far too many people who will violently oppose him for no other reason than he's Donald Trump, no matter how bad things get for America under Biden. He's simply too polarizing, much the same as Hillary Clinton is.

So I think the best we can hope for is for Trump to handpick his "successor;" maybe even agree to serve as an advisor (although, to be fair, I doubt his ego would let him settle into such a role). If he runs as an independent, that just splits the conservative vote.

@Alysandir I'm hopeful he has learned a few lessons through all of this. Recently I saw an interview of him and finally he has reigned in that ego and self-blowing his own horn. I seriously think that was half the battle, along with a degree or two of imprudence on speaking his mind and picking his battles for their actual value. Yes, I love him and all he has done but picking a strong successor seems to be the best route for all. Bottom line is saving the Republic and that has always been his goal, for the success of that goal is necessary in order to then bring American ingenuity to the fore. The Constitution and the Republic come first.

His current task, and he knows this, if shaping the new Republican party to truly be the voice of the people and our forefathers and shaping a better, more proactive Republic record going forward.

The serious minded right-wingers, the ones with a grasp on ugly reality, need to step up and be a real conservative voice. Unfortunately, the media ignores them because they are a threat; easier to dwell on conspiratorial retards.
