@KeVince I’m trying to determine what “ still being attempted to this day” actually means. If you refer to articles from 1976 and claim it’s still going on today aren’t you missing 45 years of context? Can you articulate “still being attempted to this day” with the appropriate evidence because if this is true, it’s shocking.

That is a ridiculous assertion on the face of it. As pertains to Native American peoples they have the option to live on "Indian Land" - see "reservations" or to live within greater American society. No one is forcing Indians to do either.
Having said that I will also say that the treatment of Indigenous peoples in North and South America was atrocious and would be condemned today as crimes against humanity. But that was then (pre 1970s) and this is now.
I disagree with your assertion that "even to this day" America and Canada are practicing genocide or that they have policies that are genocidal toward ANY racial or cultural group of people.
It is up to the Indians, the Blacks, the Hispanics to take advantage of available assistance or to NOT take advantage.
I will say also that given the conditions of life as a Native American still living on a reservation assimilation would look like a giant step up to me...especially when I think about my progeny. Would I prefer my children and grandchildren to assimilate or would I punish them by forcing them to live on Indian Lands (reservations)...
I would do everything in my power and take every available kind of assistance for my progeny to have the best possible lives.
I will also say (and I have long held this opinion) that if ANYONE - ANY ethnic group is entitled to reparations it would certainly be the Indigenous Tribal peoples of North and South America. I can not however agree to any form of reparations for Blacks - but that is a separate issue for another post and thread of comments.

@iThink I agree with your statement. Using the word genocide isn’t appropriate language in today’s context. I can understand the grief that these policies caused but I hasten to say that today we are trying hard to compensate in kind. We can never undo the past, it’s more than just money - I hope! It’ll never be a total remedy but remember that we, this generation are tasked with the huge process of mitigation. Is there a point where recognition of that attempt is acknowledged? If not we might as well just give up.
Issues like water are serious but pipelines and infrastructure cause dissent within the bands themselves. Is it possible to imagine people making sure they have clean water? Isn’t this something that comes with the land? Where is the will to improve on your own? I don’t understand somethings but if I bough some land I’d expect to provide my own water. It’s time to be constructive and rational. Quoting every leftist sources is like looking into a dark whole, they caused it.

As a species human beings have not "evolved" in any way.
Because of the largess, the prosperity through the miraculous evolvement of technologies human beings have learned to live in relative peace and cooperation with each other - in short it doesn't take a particularly deep thinker to know that we have more to lose than we have to gain by acting out on our basic and dominant negative impulses.
Humans are every bit as vain, prideful, prone to violence, venial, petty, selfish as ever - not evolved one bit and I do not believe it is possible for humankind to "evolve" in that regard.

I tend to see "evil" as NOT being some external force but as the very intrinsic immutable negative nature of man. Whether we acknowledge it or not we spend a tremendous amount of energy suppressing our impulses to say and do destructive things.

The "devil" is in us - it is our nature and every now and then someone relents - gives in - allows that natural impulse to rise to the surface and we call those people criminals - which they are.
