Do you really believe the U.S. Government is not controlled by Corporations through their lobbyists... who literally write the laws that politicians rubber-stamp after the check clears?
Those giant corporations actually lobby FOR more intrusive regulation (of their choosing) from their lap-tools in government... regulations with which they are fully prepared to comply (or just pay the fine), and which will drive their smaller competitors out of business.
And the idiots who vote for these whores actually think the regulations are for their benefit!

Also, businesses exist to make money, if you want just give it to them, they will take it, if they have to spend money to improve their market, they will spend it, if they have to pay someone to improve their bottom line, they will pay, that is how business works!!!!
It is up to US the citizen/voter to keep government out of business!!! Again "TERM LIMITS"!!!

@Serg97 Voters have the opportunity to impose a term limit every time there is an election; and they decide against it, nearly every time.
Mandatory term limits won't solve anything. Political insiders will just keep taking turns among themselves from within their little club.
The danger of the term-limits proposal, is that when they pass, which they will... at least to some extent; then everyone will go home patting themselves on the back thinking they accomplished something.
And the motivation for real reforms will simply dissipate once again below the boiling point.

Lobbyists don't care who they write the check out to.
There is too much power in elected positions, not just well-known elected officials; and also way too much power in the persistent, un-elected, Rube-Goldberg bureaucracy for which the politicians are merely figureheads.
If you think you're going to get rid of the ants (Lobbyists), without first cleaning up the sugar (overreaching Government power), then I don't believe you're thinking it through very well.

If we didn't hand over so much unwarranted power to the Government in the first place... then nobody would be able to use their wealth and/or influence to abuse that power.
That is the point of limited government and distributed powers.
