General Mark Milley didn’t see it coming.
Despite warnings from intelligence experts that Afghanistan was subject to rapid collapse, Milley says there was nothing to indicate the country would fall in 11 days.
Maybe Milley was too busy pushing Critical Race Theory on young recruits to evaluate an unfolding military crisis.
Milley bristles at being labelled “woke”, but as the Wall Street Journal reported in June, after reports of “white rage” seminars at West Point:
“One can still wonder why “How to Be an Antiracist,” a book promoting sectarian racism, is on the reading list as “foundational” material on par with Jim Hornfischer’s classic naval histories.
The Navy’s reading list for sailors also includes “The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness” and “Sexual Minorities and Politics.”

In the military, if you fail, you're expected to own up to it. Failing to own up to failure is worse than failure. Milley failed to own up to his failure. He squirmed. This should be a court Martial. If heads don't roll, then you know the Democratic party and the military are corrupt.

Sadly, this general is not the only politically correct buffoon within the American Military. It has been bred into the officer corps for decades. In order to reach beyond the field grade ranks, it is almost a requirement to learn the art of keeping your head down and never speak, act or even think independently. The political game of whack-a-mole has left us with an entire military senior leadership cadre of cowering buffoons incapable of true leadership. (With very few exceptions) IMO

How do we clean them out?
@RobBlair Good question; I have been in civilian management and military leadership for most of my adult life and I believe, “if you’re just identifying the problem without a proposed solution, you’re just complaining”.
There is no short answer to this other than to require General officers to be true leaders and their handlers to support their expertise. The way to do this is a far longer answer.
In order to positively affect change within a mature behemoth organization such as the US military, it would be necessary to go through an entire process of building an effective team. This team must have the required authority and they must have the success of this undertaking as its main priority for an extended period of time along with the commitment to reassess annually and have the product approved at the highest levels by senior representatives of all offices with a stake (military, executive branch, legislative branch, etc).
The first step would be to identify the problem and how we got here. (This is all I have done in my post comment). I believe expectation management and clearly communicating expectations are a problem as well. Then, we would need to do a risk analysis and decide what the likelihood and severity of harm if nothing changes or if the decline continues.
Assuming that analysis concluded a change was necessary (unacceptable risk) and the cost was acceptable WRT the benefits and, it would require a unified effort on behalf of those in senior military positions (receiving input from future and past military leaders) along with their civilian handlers/bosses (Not just the Executive branch, but also those in the legislative branch that wield power over the military.) An ideal lab for outlining the parameters of this team, assessing outcomes and making recommendations would be the the War Colleges. (at all 3 levels and in all branches)
He was too busy trying to understand "white rage," and forgot all about brown rage.
Not that any part of this is humorous, but I am still amused at the empty threats of economic sanctions against people who have been living in caves since the late 70s. Oh no! Where will they buy an XBOX now?
