I’m a fan of Carlin! He was unique, intelligent, and not afraid to be wrong!
But, does this mean you have no opinion of your own on the OP?
Oh well, I look forward to your usual parade of quotes and memes,
created by those more capable than yourself.

@WorldSigh why so much negativity and aggression? For a Christian, you sure do not practice "Christian Love".

Prager is dead wrong from the get-go. Did Western Civilization help to bring enlightenment and end slavery and give equal rights? Sure... eventually. But it was fought tooth and nail by those who worship the 10 Commandments. He also is trying to paint Nazism as being secular, when it has been proven time and time again that it was Christian in nature. Surprised that Prager is such an avowed Trump supporter when he is so serious about the 10 Commandments - did he forget about the one about lying?

The 10 Commandments have no legal / secular purpose in America. In fact, several are in direct opposition to the Constitution. Why do you need a big sign saying "NO OTHER GODS" - directly contradicting the First Amendment - in front of a federal courthouse. As Carlin says, if you remove the religious stuff and stick with actual legal language, there would be no problem.

Did you know that the majority of 10 Commandments monuments in the USA were actually marketing devices for the Charlton Heston movie of the same name?

@JacksonNought

Are you suddenly an expert on Christian love? Congratulations! LOL Christian love concerns far more than being positive and submissive. It is about speaking the truth. The truth is that in our interactions, your typical responses have generally involved the use of memes, videos, etc., ad nauseam. I simply pointed out that posting the Carlin video follows your usual modus operandi.

It is also an act of love to point out error and outright lies such as your misinformed claims about Christianity (“those who worship the 10 Commandments”? Umm.. I assume you are referring to Christians here?). The countries with the highest proportion of population in modern slavery are: North Korea, Uzbekistan, Cambodia, India, Qatar, and Pakistan. Hopefully, it is not necessary to point out what these nations all have in common?

@WorldSigh they are all countries in the "east". So?

You also left out Nigeria, Indonesia, Russia, and Philippines.

@WorldSigh and again you left out other countries like Nigeria, Indonesia, Russia, and Philippines. And again I said they are countries to the "East" of the map. What is your point? Repeating yourself does nothing.

I’m sorry for the repetition, Jack. I know that you couldn’t possibly be a garden variety troll who consistently ignores questions and attempts to steamroll views he despises with flurries of unsupported attacks, so naturally I thought that you didn’t see my previous post. Let me make it a little easier for you to understand by emphasizing the pertinent part:

The countries with the highest proportion of population in modern slavery are:
North Korea, Uzbekistan, Cambodia, India, Qatar, and Pakistan.

HOPEFULLY, IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO POINT OUT WHAT THESE NATIONS HAVE IN COMMON?

@WorldSigh and again you left out other countries like Nigeria, Indonesia, Russia, and Philippines. And again I said they are countries to the "East" of the map. What is your point? Repeating yourself does nothing.

@JacksonNought

The six countries with the highest proportion of population in modern slavery on earth are North Korea, Uzbekistan, Cambodia, India, Qatar, and Pakistan. These are all non-Christian, non-Ten Commandment keeping, nations. I credited you with a clearer grasp of the conversation, Jack. You appear to have lost focus and forgotten the topic of this thread. This is not a geography lesson, it concerns the effect of the moral law of God.

@WorldSigh again you leave off Nigeria, Indonesia, Russia, and Philippines. Maybe because they are primarily Christian (less so Indonesia)?

Also how long was Christianity and the 10 Commandments worshipped by the US and UK while they had slavery? Funny how the US removed slavery and gave more civil rights the more secular we became.

@JacksonNought

Yet again, you force me to repeat that the six countries with THE HIGHEST PROPORTION OF POPULATION IN MODERN SLAVERY ON EARTH are non-Christian, non-Ten Commandment keeping North Korea, Uzbekistan, Cambodia, India, Qatar, and Pakistan. Apparently, you want a complete list, including all countries that proportionally have far less slavery than the six worst offenders? Then you have over 200 to chose from, depending on whether or not you include Taiwan, Vatican City, etc.

I do not claim that primarily Christian nations are perfect. Certainly, there has been much evil done in the name of religion, by men who were definitely not obeying the the Ten Commandments. Neither humans nor nations change their character instantaneously. The point is that the Ten Commandments tend to equity and freedom.

Finding no overwhelming fault in present day racial equality, the typical SJW strategy is to vilify nations founded by Commandment keepers for actions taken in the distant past. If you wish to see where the foundation of Atheism, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, leads nations, perhaps, you should take another look at the present day situation? The six countries with THE HIGHES PROPORTION OF POPULATION IN MODERN SLAVERY ON EARTH are non-Christian, non-Ten Commandment keeping North Korea, Uzbekistan, Cambodia, India, Qatar, and Pakistan.

Jack, you claim that the US removed slavery because it became more secular? (I wonder if the Uyghurs of China are pleased that the secular/atheist CCP is not beholden to the antiquated and oppressive Ten Commandments as they are enslaved and bred out of existence via the systematic rape of their daughters and wives?)

Here is a little biographical insight into the “secular” man who signed the Emancipation Proclamation on September 22, 1862.

“In the midst of religious revival, Abraham Lincoln was born to Tom Lincoln and Nancy Hanks Lincoln. His mother was a godly woman who sat Lincoln upon her knees day after day and read to him the Scriptures and encouraged him to remember it.
PARTICULARLY SHE ENCOURAGED HIM TO LEARN THE TEN COMMANDMENTS. THEY HAD A PROFOUND EFFECT UPON LINCOLN’S LIFE. He said that whenever he was tempted to do something wrong, he could still hear the clear tones of his mother's voice saying, "I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage . . . Thou shalt have no other gods before me . . . Thou shalt not steal . . . Thou shalt not kill . . . Thou shalt not bear false witness . . . " Exodus 20
Abraham Lincoln became known, believe it or not, as the most honest lawyer east of China. Once when he was a shopkeeper, he walked for miles to return an overpayment of only a few cents to one of his customers.” [timetracts.com]?

@WorldSigh point to the commandment that bans slavery. If it was so important, and adherence to the 10 Commandments is causation for lower slavery (which you appear to be implying that correlation is causation in this case), why wasn't it explicitly commanded? Why is honoring your parents, keeping the sabbath holy, and not swearing more important than "don't keep slaves"? Why was slavery a common practice among Christianity for all of history from the 10 Commandments until quite recently? Why did the Bible condone it?

@JacksonNought

The Bible never condoned slavery. Israel came out of Egypt after 400 years of enslavement. Slavery was ingrained in their culture. They were given rules for the humane treatment of slaves while they were led away from the practice. In fact, every Jubilee year the slaves were commanded to be set free. What other nation of that era freed all of their slaves at regular intervals?

Also, the Commandments state: “thou shalt not steal”. Raiding neighbours for the purpose of kidnapping slaves breaks this Commandment. The vast majority of slaves in Israel were people who could not pay a debt, and as a result agreed to become slaves until the Jubilee year.

Fun fact: the majority of black slaves taken to the US and Britain during the sixteen and seventeen hundreds were captured by northern Muslim slavers or neighbouring (non-Ten Commandment keeping) tribes in Africa before western ships arrived. In the year 2021 you can find open slave markets in Muslim controlled Libya, because the Quran specifically commands the taking of slaves. In 2021 you can find government orchestrated slave camps in Communist China, because Atheistic Communism views its population through the lens of eugenics. Uniformity is preeminent. Those who do not conform must be winnowed out.

Jesus said the Ten Commandments were summed up by two rules: “Thou shalt love God”, and “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself”. If followed sincerely, which philosophy do you think will eventually lead to the abolition of slavery?

As an atheist, my position is that acting in a way which benefits family, society and humanity results in a moral code which does not rely on the existence of a mythical entity.
[humanists.international]

“By utilising free inquiry, the power of science and creative imagination for the furtherance of peace and in the service of compassion, we have confidence that we have the means to solve the problems that confront us all.”

Humanist International sets forth some laudable goals. Unfortunately, the “power of science and creative imagination” is precisely the type of moral relativism being employed to justify the UN eugenics program currently being enacted to drastically reduce the global human population. Acceptance of a moral absolute: the Ten Commandments, would have prevented this.

@WorldSigh Inasmuch as your statement is correct, there are much better methods to combat the Communism and Islam dominated United Nations agenda. We do not need to "settle" for edicts dictated by an ignorant 13th century BC desert wanderer.

@pbuck0145

Thank you for the excellent illustration of how to correctly fold and dispose of the UN flag! 👍

I’m not certain what “much better methods to combat the Communism and Islam dominated United Nations agenda” you are referring to? Your previous post appeared to equate your moral compass with the principles of Humanist International? I have seen the Humanist International declaration. It is steeped in the same moral relativism that is rapidly destroying western civilization.

The moral certitude of the words “written with the finger of God” (Exodus 31:18) do not change with every cultural whim. They are an immutable pole star. If followed in spirit, they will teach each of us the true meaning of love.
