TV actor Jussie Smollett is guilty of staging a hate crime. Smollett, who was previously let off the hook in Chicago, was convicted of five of the six charges laid against him. The actor’s actions were an attempt to whip up racial hatred, and specifically targeted supporters of Donald Trump. Smollett falsely and ridiculously claimed the atttackers, in downtown Chicago, cried “this is MAGA” country.
Smollett’s hateful hoax didn’t only divide and damage ordinary people, it will have a lasting impact on the victims of real crimes.

He'll take plenty of preservatives.
My feeling is he’ll get a slap on the wrist. His actions represent the most evil form of racism, but I’m betting no one on the left will condemn it.
@GeeMac From another pundit's video, it might be 3 years, with a possibility of a probation.
@eschatologyguy true, three years is the max, but with a non-violent, no weapon, no damage first offence, a defence team could reasonably argue for a fine, probation or community service. He’s also facing a civil suit for costs by Chicago police.
@GeeMac I like that civil suit. Smollett tried to send them on a wild goose chase. Serves him right.
