I'm not a gambling man, but would bank on NOT. Best to abandon the sinking ship before the water gets neck deep, even if the captain says it's all fine. I think we all have our fingers crossed, the battle isn't over, but we gotta get ready for the 'what if'.

PVC is weak. Use a stronger material, such as carbon fiber or titanium alloy.

@jaymaron Oh right - do you have a readily available source for titanium alloy materials and the tools necessary to fashion them into bows and crossbows? I think PVC pipe is plentiful and easy to find and probably much easier to work with than titanium. But you are right about the comparative properties of titanium and PVC.

Get thin strips of carbon fiber or titanium alloy, and laminate them together.

@jaymaron, @Tom81 just a thought - might be a good idea to give some thought on how to make projectiles (arrows or bolts) for your bows. Arrows might be easy to find right now but I can see a time ahead when the supply would be mostly depleted. Fletching is a worthy and vital skill to have.

Good point, about making arrows. The mass and elasticity of the arrow needs to have very particular values.

Another possibility is a slingshot. Use kevlar for the elastic element and use tungsten for the balls (for its density).

Slingshots that shoot arrows have been commercialized.

In the American Revolutionary War, gunpower was awkward. It didn't work if it got wet. The residue left guns inoperable after 20 shots. Reloading took 15 seconds.

Commercial slingshots exist that fire arrows or balls.

The elastic element tends to be lame. Buy your own elastic element and put it on the slingshot. Use kevlar or zylon.

Using carbon fiber and pulleys and gears, it should be possible to make a cranked crossbow with ludicrous energy. It can even be compact. You can put an electric motor on it to operate the crank. The energy requirement is small and easily handled. The battery and motor wouldn't weigh much.

Have conventional ammunition and explosive ammunition. Have a SPG, an Slingshot Powered Grenade.

What makes you think that they haven't already infiltrated the Republican party through their think street offices? All you have to do is follow the money.... You want your elected representatives to represent those that actually vote for them? Then ask your state reps to pass law making it illegal for candidates to accept campaign contributions from outside of their election districts. If that is done then your vote will actually count for something.
