An Ontario man has discovered a way to use ammonia to power any vehicle, as well as jet engines! The conversion of a gas vehicle to operate on ammonia costs about $1000. The price of ammonia is about 25 cents/litre (The average price of gasoline in Canada is nearing $2.00/litre)! The exhaust from ammonia combustion is 0% carbon! It is water and nitrogen! I wonder why no powerful politician including Trudeau will talk to this man? I wonder why billionaires are afraid to invest???

If ammonia is cheaper than gasoline, that means that the government crippled the gasoline industry. That should never happen.

Gasoline is a hydrocarbon, and ammonia is produced from a hydrocarbon (methane). Ammonia should never be cheaper than gasoline.

Ammonia is way preferable to hydrogen or methane as vehicle fuel. Ammonia is a convenient liquid, like gasoline, and engines work best with liquid fuel. A gasoline engine has a much larger power/mass than a coal-fired engine. Gasoline can fly and coal can't.

Hydrogen and methane are gases, so they must either be liquefied (inconvenient), or stored as compressed gas, in which case the containers weigh 10 times as much as the fuel that they contain.
Also, since hydrogen and methane are gases, they are maximum volatile and maximum explosive.

If your vehicle crashes and it's powered by gasoline, you have time to get out of the car and get away before the gasoline explodes. Not so with hydrogen or methane.

Energy is lost in the conversion of methane to hydrogen, and more energy is lost in the conversion of hydrogen to ammonia. For energy, It's more energy efficient to use hydrogen than ammonia, and more efficient to use methane than hydrogen.

The most efficient thing to do is to use methane to produce electricity, for EVs. Ammonia is a middleman. Cut out the middleman.

The fellow being interviewed, says he has worked producing commercial ammonia for years. Over the past 30 years, he has come up with a new, apparently more efficient, process for ammonia production. He also points out that ammonia is a far more stable and less hazardous fuel than pure hydrogen.

Yes. Ammonia is liquid, which is convenient for engines, and convenient to store. Gases like hydrogen and methane are hard to store, and the storage system weighs 10 times as much as the fuel.

Solid fuel (coal and firewood) sucks for engines. A liqued-fueled engine can achieve a power/mass that is 10 times larger than a solid-fueled engine. You can't win a car race with a solid-fuel engine..

The lower the boiling point, the more volatile, and the more explosive. The boiling points of hydrogen and methane are low enough to make them gases at room temperature. Your hydrogen-powered vehicle is a bomb under your ass.

Ammonia doesn't explode.

Haber revolutionized the world with the invention of the Haber process, for converting hydrogen to ammonia. This goosed farming, and world population spiked.

If this inventor has a more efficient process for producing ammonia, that's yuge.

That being said... the production of ammonia is a staple industrial process, and the entire chemical industry cares about the optimization of this process. I doubt that this lone inventor can outperform the chemical industry.

What's embarrassing is that the industrial titans didn't conceive of an ammonia engine, and this inventor did.

He claims that he is reluctant to give details of his ammonia production process until it is fully patented. Whether he is legitimate or not only time will tell. Unless, he has an unfortunate “accident” or sudden “illness”…
