After two years plus, living with treachery and lies about covid and the resulting anger, confusion and upheaval in the very fiber of civilization, we may struggle with maintaining any hope of recovering from this mess; ever. Lamentations 3:16-24 feels familiar and relevant.
Easter isn’t just about a cute little bunny delivering colorful eggs or egg hunts or new outfits, etc... Easter is about the hope we have in a renewal of what seems irredeemably destroyed.
There seemed to be no hope left for those following Jesus after he was crucified and sealed in a tomb. But on that 3rd day He showed nothing is hopeless and beyond redemption. He can take what seems to be irredeemable and evil and use it for something amazing and wonderful. He has accepted all the evil we cause and taken its results upon Himself so that we could have a future and a hope of the glory He deserves.

Nous ne pouvons vivre Pâques avec des mots creux ou naïvement festifs. Mais nous pouvons trouver dans les récits de la résurrection l’émerveillement de ceux qui voient poindre au milieu des ruines les signes de la fidélité de Dieu et l’espérance du renouvellement de toutes choses dans le Christ ressuscité. Écouter, lire les récits attentivement, à nouveaux frais à Pâques, pour entendre encore aujourd’hui que les bontés du Seigneur ne sont pas épuisées, mais qu’elles se renouvellent chaque matin!”
