The world powers were not averse to "socialism". The USSR was their experiment with revolutions started in Poland, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, and Romania as the more immediate targets. The revolutions were both expensive and destructive, requiring huge costs to build back better. Then of course Hitler came along and attacked the USSR over Poland. This demonstrated that nations had to be weakened first. If national sovereignty was held intact it was a big challenge.

Marxism, through Gramsci and others, Marcuse more notably in the fifties, then shifted to a more Fabian approach. Essentially, avoiding a confrontational revolution that the people may or may not have supported, and shifting to a more subversive internal deconstruction of nations. Using dialectical materialism they expanded the simple Marxist oppositional victimology of a class struggle pitting the proletariat against the bourgeoisie into a struggle between any group that could be redefined as a victim against the newly identified oppressive ruling Whites of western democracies. In modern terms of cancel culture, this was not only creating an identity of an oppressor, as Marx did, but doxxing them as well. Anyone opposed to the agenda of the WEF was made a target, exposed as a Racist, a white supremacist, a right-wing extremist, a homophobe, a misogynist, whatever the neo-commies could make stick.

Hitler didn't attack the USSR over Poland. Hitler and the USSR collaborated and attacked Poland (who wanted neither) simultaneously. Stalin made Germany's weapon development possible by allowing Hitler to develop, build and train his forces in secret on Russian territory. It was the NKVD that helped train the Gestapo in methodology.
After WW2, most countries that fell under Soviet rule did so at gun point (or with the threat of T34s in the background). If you spoke or voted against soviet rule, you were labelled as a fascist and smeared as a nazi collaborator. Building back better enslaved 2 or 3 generations with the sentiment being - you're doing this so your grandkids will have a better life, if you refuse you are selfish and antisocial. Guess things haven't changed all that much.
